Is this a thing? Like is it supposed to be an honor to cut your own baby's umbilical cord?
I'd probably say F that. And while we're at it - keep the thing until it can sleep through the night without waking me up.
Yes, it's been a thing for several decades. It's just kind of a symbolic thing I guess. A dad being able to be a part of the birthing process. I think we got the better end of that deal.Is this a thing? Like is it supposed to be an honor to cut your own baby's umbilical cord?
1. You're a pussHahaha. The doctor asked me both times and I think my exact words were "There's no damn way I'm doing that crap."
I can handle a lot, but the thought of the feeling of cutting that thing...nah, I'll pass.

2. Reminded me of cutting something made out of rubber
I don't recall any blood when I cut it. Maybe it happened so fast I didn't notice it.GFY.
I don't handle "blood." I can deal with a lot, but that phobia is very real.
They clamp it on either side of where you cut, so there's not really any blood to speak of.I don't recall any blood when I cut it. Maybe it happened so fast I didn't notice it.
That makes sense. I guess now we know @Blue2010's phobia of blood had nothing to do with his decision. He just hates his children. They clamp it on either side of where you cut, so there's not really any blood to speak of.

Being there during conception is the only part of the "birthing process" I want any part of.Yes, it's been a thing for several decades. It's just kind of a symbolic thing I guess. A dad being able to be a part of the birthing process. I think we got the better end of that deal.
You didn't have the option though. I mean, they just started letting fathers in the room around 50 years ago.Being there during conception is the only part of the "birthing process" I want any part of.
I didn't watch the birth. You don't have to be all up in that area to cut the cord.Nope, I had already been warned by a good friend to stay above the waist during childbirth. He never got the warning and is still somewhat scarred
