about AFAM and the University administration: it was an academic matter. No sports coach, no AD, no player has the right to declare courses and departments approved by the administration are fraudulent.

Rather enjoyed his take, especially calling out the schools using this mess against us in the recruiting process.

I've gotten to know Dakich a bit. Only guy who isn't in bed with coaches across the nation. His opinions are genuine and objective. Every other analysis coaches at X coach's camp or X former player's camp... Dakich really isn't. He's committed to one person... Bob Knight. He's biased towardds the Big 10 because he covers them more than other conferences, but if you're looking for an honest opinion... Dakich is it.

I was surprised as a ex college player that Dakich would come on a national televised game and tell the truth that every college team has a easy class that players take for a easy grade. The guy can get on your nerves at times but I for one have to applaud the guy for calling it like it is because no other commentator to my knowledge has every had the grits to say something like that.

Bilas once did a twitter question of "name the biggest joke college course you took"

But Dakich is always genuine.

Oh, the BEST part was when he called out coaches who negative recruit on the NCAA stuff. "LIARS".
Ya get a load o' that one, Capel? o_O

Which is EXACTLY the position the NCAA took after its initial investigation.

I thought his dialogue about the negative recruiting was spot on. Unfortunately, most 18 year old kids do not think with that type of logic and are so easily influenced. They hang on to every word of some of these Coaches. But he called it exactly right...they are LIARS. Tony Dungy once said, "What you do in the dark will always come to light." So I believe that everything will come full circle to these coaches that are throwing UNC under the bus. We just have to be patient.

Post of the month.

But I was offended the way he trashed some of our players. "Meeks is lazy"...."Joel James he can't shoot".. I thought those comments were harsh and totally accurate. Especially when you have a national audience listening to your comments.

Dakich is an Indiana Hoosier and Knight worshiper and was insulting to our guys, particularly Kennedy. Comment on the guys play, okay, but to demean him as he did is uncalled for, IMO.
I did like that he smoothed it out eventually but dang that first 5-8 minutes was rough.
I was pleased to hear another former player tell it...we all had crip classes at one time or another...and yes, everyone knows it, did they fill the curriculum? No. As our buddy Emmert at the NCAA said a week or so ago, it is not the NCAA's position to police YOUR academics, it is your business.

Yeah he was BRUTAL early on but eventually settled into an even keeled commentary. Like others have said though, he wasn't wrong in his assessment at the time. Meeks played HORRIBLY lazy defense early.

If anyone has ever been to college you know there are easy classes to take. People who do not think so are just ignorant.

What he said about Meeks and James were 100% accurate. Meeks was lazy as ever last night on defense and James cannot shoot when he is trying to create his own shot. I don't care how harsh it sounded he was 100% correct.

I don't agree with Meeks performance in some stretches but its one thing to call his effort lazy and another thing to flat out call the kid lazy. As for James, its the same.. one thing to call his shot selection poor but its another to flat say the kid can't shoot. He hasn't watched many UNC games. Joel James has a nice touch in 5-6 feet and can make those. His issue was shot selection that triggered that comment. Meeks has been playing with more energy this season that I have seen him play his entire time in chapel hill. He had stretches were he appeared to be lost on defense or at least didn't keep his eye on the big guy. I think the guy could have worded his comments better. He also sneaked in a side eye comment about Theo when the other guy mentioned that Theo was once rate #1 in his class as a junior then fell to #10 as a senior. I don't recall his exact words but it was pretty shocking that things that he said. It's one thing to say what you want exactly how you want off air or at home watching a game with your buddies but when your on the air to a national audience there's a certain way you call the game and speak on players.

You whine about that?

And for the record, Meeks often seems lazy on the court, and James does shoot poorly.

I loved him telling the class and teacher at IU. Every school, large or small has these classes. They are passed down by word of mouth from upperclassman to lower. College tradition.
