Good size and shot but doesn't look like a great dribble drive game to me, and would also worry about defense. I think he's definitely a take given the number of open spots we have, but we need one of the 3 / 4 starters to be uber athletic IMO and this guy would not fill that need.

We had an Uber athletic 3/4. He couldn't shoot or dribble well enough to get minutes. So he's in the portal.
Give me shooters, 3 & D guys, and maybe Cadeau.
I didn't say only athleticism haha. I want athletic shooters, at least one between the 3 and 4 spots. I think will be easier to get from the 3, personally. If the whole team is slow and/or small they'll probably be bad defensively.
Yeah, he did. Just doesn't look laterally quick to me. I'm no expert evaluator though, and I'd definitely take him with all our open spots. Just hoping we can get someone even better at one of the forward spots.

I agree. I said that if he is the starting 3, our 2 and 4 have to be better athletes.
He does fit the offensive 3 spot better than Leaky, but the defense of course will not come close.
Either the 3 or 4 spot needs to be an uber athlete as you stated.

tarwhiz, for what we need at the 3, I put the premium on jump shooting over uber athletism, fantastic if it happens to be a great athlete but I need the jump shot to drop more than I need a highlite drive & flush. Give me a Cam Johnson, give me a Justin Jackson, give me a Reggie Bullock, I am happy!
Look, I heard Roy say for YEARS that he defined himself as a defensive coach, that if you couldn't defend you couldn't play for him, I always laughed at that. Roy Williams was NOT a defensive coach, he was and Hubert appears to be very offensive minded coaches. Roy featured the running game while Hubert seems to feature jump shooting but the defense both gave us is pretty vanilla, refer to guys like Dean Smith, Tony Bennett, early K not later career K, or Nolan Richardson if you want to see what a defensive coach does. 4 very different styles of defense but all 4 extremely effective and all taught so well that you never question how much it is worked on in practice.
While I do very much believe that Hubert has to re-think his offensive approach, he does have some elements that are keepers but he as well does things at times that just make little sense. I mean you just don't go to a spread offense with 3 weak jump shooters on the floor (Leaky, Nance, and Bacot) and your ball handler be one of your only 2 jump shooting threats out there? Why would you ever, ever, ever do that?
I want an uber athletic guy at EITHER the 3 or 4 spot. Be tough to get a GREAT starter with all the qualities at both spots. If at least one of the spots has an athletic player, we can get by at the other spot with just a avg athletic but skilled guy.
my first thoughts watching those highlights:

Typically I define wings (small forward position, 3 spot if you will) as being in 1 of 2 camps. Camp 1 we have the shooter version, what I saw Cam, Justin as, what I think we should be able to do moving a 2 there and playing smaller. The draw back to this kind of guy is you do not get much penetration, limited driving ability. The other camp is the driver slasher type, usually a more athletic guy, maybe a Harrison Barnes type, I see Jackson as fitting this really well when he comes. The draw back there is typically these kind of guys have made a living slashing to the rim but their jump shooting has not been worked on as much so it is not as solid as it could be.
If I am picking from those 2 camps, for this team I just feel we need a shooter more than a slasher, need a really solid catch and shoot guy there that hopefully can at least hold his own on the defensive end. We have to get consistent scoring from the 2, 3, and 4 and we need our PG to create good catch and shoot ops for those guys and Bacot to clean up the mess. Give us at least a 35% trey make % from the 2, 3, and 4 we win so lets get some shooters taking those shots. Even if we don't get a lot of treys from our 4 spot the 4 has to have a really solid mid range and physically impose on the other end.

The entire time I've been on this site I've only ignored one other poster, (Grover). Steadyasyougo just doubled the size of that club.
