No wonder racking up all those wins in that cupcake conf! They sure wouldn't be the all time winningest team if they played in the acc!
With the winningest basketball program in the history of college basketball to boot. Crazy!
Dominating what has traditionally been a weak basketball conference has certainly padded their wins. It's probably helped them to win 2-3 more NCAA titles than if they had played in the ACC as well. For a long time, only the team that won the conference advanced to the NCAAT.
The SEC is a great football league. The ACC is a great basketball league. The B1G may be the best combination of both.
^^^^ your opinion doesn't matter here!
Exactly gun. FSU has benefitted greatly from playing in a traditionally weak football league. Ditto for UK playing basketball in the traditionally weak SEC. It pads your wins and makes you a shoo in for a high seed.Agreed. Look at FSU. Their football program has racked up so many wins because of their membership in the ACC. Before joining the ACC, FSU sported a record of 293-165-15 for a winning percentage of roughly 62%. After joining the ACC in 1992, FSU is 239-66-1 for a winning percentage of 78% and 3 nattys. From '92 to 2003, they failed to win the conference just once. Now winning a championship in football is indeed different than in basketball, but FSU has benefited from weak foes in that they've finished seasons with high win totals against lesser competition and were voted to the top of the polls. Similarly, UK has beaten up on lesser opponents, basically ensuring them of top seeds which makes their path to a championship considerably easier.
they have one championship in the last 17 yrs
It's easy to be the winningest program when you play St Mary's School for the Deaf and Blind 14-16 games a year for decades. With the winningest basketball program in the history of college basketball to boot. Crazy!
