That coach Knight had won national championship with 1 NBA allstar and Dean smith had 8 million and only had 2 national championships and Indiana was going to win because they were tougher and always has been!

Screw that thug. I watched him get away with assault on MJ off the ball in that awful 84 game. As a basketball player he made a good hockey goon.

100% what I would expect from IU alum Jan Jock Itch. Who knows or cares who he is?

To hear him say it earlier this year, the Final Four was to be made up of all Big 10 teams, including Iowa and Purdue, and no ACC teams. How's that looking now?

He can run his mouth all he wants. It comes across as jealousy and pettiness. Does he care to put up Roy's success against Crean's?

He is apparently unhappy with the ACC success thus far.

Mr. Double Dbag - I heard him do a game of ours earlier this year. Said something like "from here on out in this game, it will come done to heart and guts to determine the win. And any time it comes down to heart and guts, the Heels lose, cause they just don't have it". I am paraphrasing but that was totally the gist.

So - FU loser - objective much? I don't know what ever got his undies in a bunch about UNC but how about grow up, get over it, let it go, move on.

I think his announcing partner was just embarrassed at his comments they were so non-objective, spiteful.

Case in point: think of how intense the Duke / UNC rivalry is. Pure hatred, at least from the fan bases - and super intense competition from the players.

A lot of these players from both schools move on to be announcers. You might hear these announcers make SLIGHT all-in-fun, kidding comments defending their alma mater, or taking a fun harmless jab at the rival, but you never hear, say, a Bilas, JWill, Stu Scott, etc. disparage the rivals heart, or competition intensity. ie - they are professionals understanding their job as announcers - to be objective.

Junk like what Dakich did is bush league, unprofessional, chump work.

Yeah but I wonder if and how he will talk if we beat that IU team and especially if we double digit them? Will he man up and apologize or will he slither away or blame it on anything other than our Heels out playing his team? LOL

Knight's '76 team had 5 players taken in first round, his '81 team had 2 drafted in first round and '87 team had 4 guys selected in second round. This includes guys like Kent Benson drafted the year after the title but were contributors on the championship teams. Only Thomas was an NBA star but he had tons of guys the NBA felt would be good. The idea of Knight winning without talent is crap

Seriously, he strikes me as a guy who constantly feels the need to justify his former existence as a basketball player, where he represented the worst of the game. I wasn't being facetious when I compared him to a hockey goon because that's what he was as a college player. Too bad Dean didn't have an "enforcer" like say Geoff Crompton on that 84 team to lay that bastard out.

I got a ticket to that 84 game as a present, and I had a good vantage point behind one of the goals at the Omni to witness what that SOB got away with. It was criminal and he should have fouled out in the first half. I still wish Dean would have adjusted from his system to get the ball to Michael in face-up isolations and taken that punk to school.

I love all this butthurt trash talk. Keep fueling the fire Dan, while our guys keep rollin. Woo
Yep. Our guys have taken sharp notice of the disrespect (one of the benefits of social media) --- I loved the "UNC VS ALL" shirt Brice was sporting at the presser yesterday --- so yeah, let them just keep calling us soft. Ask Providence how that worked out for them.

I named him Damn Jockitch after the UNC game he called a while back. Fits him to a T.

In a word he is a jerk. I do not care for his weak words nor do I care that he has gotten way too much credit for MJ's foul trouble in 84. Yank-it is an idiot... He is also a loud-mouthed clown. Our guys are smart enough to play past all of this and stomp a mud-hole where it most needs stomping. UNC Basketball is for real!

If you've ever heard him call a game you know within the first 5 minutes how big of a homer he is. Doesn't surprise me that he'd say something outlandish that can't be supported by facts. He's a tool bag.

heard him on charlotte sports talk radio yesterday and he said "all Dean Smith teams were soft"
I coulda shot out the radio

Let me say that DD is pretty much about creating controversy. IU fans are over him as he frequently says outlandish things. His job now is about getting ratings for his radio show and working for ESPN.

As a long time Hoosier, let me say that we respect you guys and are often jealous of your talent. I think with the exception of Yogi, few of our players would have been recruited to play for NC. We get about one McD All American a year and most of our players are 3 star recruits. That doesn't mean we won't be a tough match, but we have a more difficult path to be competitive. Some Indiana fans wear that with a badge of honor. I like the kids we have now. They are good kids and hard workers and have improved since the start of the year or since they came to IU. I would like our chances a little better if we were healthy but it is what it is.

Dakich has always called UNC a soft program. So this isn't anything new.

He uses the logic that a lot of people use... With the talent that's come through UNC, they (specifically pre Roy) should have won more than the 82, 93 titles. Hell, people use the same argument against Calipari today.

Personally, I don't measure a program's toughness by how many national championships they've won.

But in my lifetime of watching and following college basketball... Indiana has been somewhat irrelevant.

There is one fact though. The tougher team will win tomorrow. Should be a hell of a game.

Would be interested to hear his take on Allen. In his eyes does hard-nosed mean cheap shots and soft the same as playing within the rules? For some reason I see him defending grayson

I heard him say on that topic that it was bush league and there was no place in basketball for that and the league or K or both should have done something about it!

So on that topic he does have his head on straight!

Crean, as strange as he may appear to be, has put together a nice team that plays well together. I'm worried about tomorrow night- I don't expect Carolina to cover the spread and wouldn't be at all surprised if it was tied or worse with 2 mins left.

...and yet his undercuts of MJ we're ok, huh?

He tweeted out last night asking Ky. fans what time we played. All right it might have been a little bit funny but I still would have liked to kick him in his grapes.

really? Ask your typical IU fan about IU games Dakich has called...they, and I will tell you that he painfully heaps platitudes on IU's opponent.

I don't need to defend Dakich...he is the first to tell you he didn't do anything special against Jordan....except throwing up before the game started when when he found out who he was guarding....

The guy has carved out a successful professional niche' for himself...like him or not.

us

Bob Knight is great....just ask his peers....one of which, if he were here, was Dean Smith..the respect was mutual....
Since you added the Coach Smith stuff after I responded. Let me say this... I'm pretty sure Coach Smith respected Knights on the court accomplishments, I can almost guarantee he didn't respect the way Knight treated his players & his off the court behavior.

Who's soft a program that hasn't been to a final four in 14 yrs. How you like those apples Dan the douchbag!
