"Mack Brown: “We probably have guys that will play tomorrow night who are leaving on Monday.”

If we can't keep 'em, what does it matter that Mack can schmooze them into Chapel Hill? If Mack cannot amass a huge amount of talent and keep it, of what value is Mack? he certainly is not a master of any other part of college FB coaching.
Guys are going to be transferring that aren't getting the playing time they desire, which is the case for literally every single program in the entire country. Has nothing to do with schmoozing.

This is the unfortunate trend in college football. If you don't play the portal game, you get behind. But some guardrails need to be put in place. Take Drake Maye. It has become clear that he is being recruited by other schools. UNCs best leverage is his family. But not all players have that. If he didn't have that connection, a larger MIL deal, and a promise of better OL protection might be enough to turn his head. But right now, as far as the portal, the inmates are in total control of the asylum. The players wanted to make it a real business. They got what they wanted. But business is always a two sided deal. What they need to do is have contracts with the players, just like one would in any business situation. You are free to enter the portal anytime you want. But if you decide to leave, you have to repay in full all the NIL and scholarship money you received while at that school. Not unlike coaches that have to pay buyouts when they leave.

Yeah, this isn't just a UNC thing, but you should know he's going to use it to shit on UNC. It's what he does.

Luckily UNC is an attractive place. I can't imagine a Cuse, wake forest or BC having much fun in the portal race. Mirrors regular recruiting though.
