I went to the Davidson game a couple of seasons ago at the Smith Center and the game went into overtime where Carolina barely won. The Wildcats were draining threes all night long and I expect the same on Wednesday night. Carolina is probably more talented but Davidson can shoot the rock and that is the great equalizer...

Davidson is never a "cakewalk"....that said the guys better have the pre/post exams "sense of urgency" back...

I really don't wanna play any cakewalk teams . . . the tougher the squad we play the better.

If anyone still doubts Berry's importance to this team's potential will soon learn all about it I'm afraid.

I'm a believer in Seventh from what I've seen so far and hope he'll take a major step forward in the next couple games.

Exams, that is yet another factor that tends to limit us, we see guys missing practice during exams, yes our guys actually take their own exams! Seems like we always play an off game during exams or shortly after.

I've watched them a few times this year. Very simple, if they shoot it well they will be right in it. If they don't, we will win by 20.

We should be able to punish them down low no matter what though.

Hopefully they have no more Currys up their sleeve. Hopefully, 7th and NB step up and show us what they are capable of!

I expect a hard fought first half and then I expect our inside to wear down/foul out theirs and for us to pull away. The 3 ball could be the outlier, however.

Jack Gibbs will be a force, whether Berry is out there or not. He wasn't preseason A-10 POY by accident. The Aldridge kid is very good too. Dadika is right, if the Wildcats shoot well, it could be a long night. We have the advantage inside. We need to use it. I don't think we can win a 3-pt contest with Davidson

Well, they were good last season and we waxed them, but granted it was Paige's first home game and we were hitting on all cylinders. Gibbs ended up getting his points but not efficiently at all and he really didn't do much vs Berry to affect the game. I fear we will miss JB a LOT on this one... in fact IIRC JB forced Gibbs into a bunch o' TOs.

Hopefully Roy will have the guys pounding it inside and our perimeter guys can hit enough from deep to keep them honest. The other good news is I remember Nate having a career game against them last year so let's hope for a repeat,

They had 3 kids sitting out last year though. 2 freshmen that were injured, and the BC transfer. He can really play too. Without JB, I think it will be closer than expected

We have very good perimeter defenders that have reduced the efficiency of every guard we have played. I believe we might force Gibbs to put up more shots than they would like to get his points. I think we will then use our inside advantage to put us over the top for a comfortable win. I acknowledge that Davidson is good and well coached and could come out firing. If they do, it is a little closer. If we come out flat we have serious problems. ( I don't see it with JB out-Roy will have the players' attention)

That's what worries me for sure. I know you're pretty familar with them and that's good info... hope the rest of our guys step up for JB.

No JB vs. Gibbs is huge. He's the kind of guy that can drop 30 on us if we don't focus on him.

OK, I really want to see this game, I really want to see how 7th plays knowing he will get big minutes and does not have to try to create something in limited minutes. I see a lot of our freshmen that have really good players ahead of them in the line up come in and really try to do to much, force things trying to show what they can do but get pulled because they tried to force things that just were not there. Seen some of that with 7th thou I do see it happen less he still gets in to that have to make up mode. I want to see if he can settle in and just get lost in the game rather than thinking to much.

McKillip is a heck of a coach, his teams usually play hard and smart, Gibbs is a stud, their 6'8" power forward has given them some good production as well. The real question is how can they handle our front court, they have a couple of big bodies but we have a solid talent and size mismatch inside on them.

They can jump shoot but Kenny is a bit of a lock down defender, Nate is really pesky and will run all over the court with you and don't under estimate 7th's quick hands and good size for a PG. And don't forget, Stillman is still in the wings if needed and he is very experienced, I think he came in the year Roy came back to UNC, didn't he? Mostly with the first 3, I think we can defend their shooters if we just don't over help with our guards and end up leaving a shooter wide open. Handle your assignment and trust your mates to handle theirs and hawk the passing lanes, especially the inside back out and we should be fine.

I suspect Justin may go off in this game, thinking Meeks and Hicks may step even more. Nate shot the ball well the last time we played them so maybe he can step up as well. I really want to see us go to Hicks more than we have, kinda suspect 7th is a bit more inclined to pass on the jumper and look more inside than Joel. Joel is more of a confident shooter where 7th is more the slashing slip passer. That should bode well for Hicks and Meeks inside the paint.

Love to see young Mr 7th with some extra burn. It's there just waiting to jump out at us, this would be the perfect game for that to happen.

Absolutely. The talent is definitely there, hopefully he can put it together tonight in his first extended action.

I think we do well to win without Joel. Davidson is always solid, won't be intimidated, and Joel is by far our most important player. Scares the devil out of me to think of playing a quality team without him. Nate and 7th better step up big time or we're in trouble. Won't be a bit surprised if this one goes right down to the wire.

I expect Nate to have a good game - 10 points, 6-8 assist and less than 3 TOs. He's been waiting for this opportunity.

I think UNC wins this game and it will not be close. Over 15 and Davidson struggles to score. Hope I'm right.

Davidson certainly wasn't a cakewalk as many said. The best things to come out of this to me were:
1. We won against a good team without JB AND without playing our best.
2. Luke stepped up big time
3. KW showed he could be a Defensive stopper
4. 7th showed flashes of his storied athleticism
5. Hicks' rebounding
6. TB with the D
7. JJ!
8. We won!

If there was ever a game which demonstrated Joel's importance, this was it. He is the straw that stirs our drink, without him we are half the team we otherwise are.
