I am aware of what Butch did. Perhaps you are unaware that Schiano was the DC, and he was not a mere figurehead.

If you paid any attention to Butch just at UNC, you'd know that other than the most basic game planning, he is hands off with coordinators. Coordinators do what they want. That, for example, is the reason that Butch's Miami Ds were very aggressive, while Butch's UNC Ds loved to go into a weak knee Prevent. The difference was that Schiano was Miami DC, while Withers was UNC DC.
