This is a big week for a couple of North Carolina recruiting targets. Quarterbacks Jake Merklinger and Jadyn Davis are set to make their decisions this week.
Merklinger has a top 4 school list of Georgia, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He has visited all schools and was planning on making a decision in April. He was in Chapel Hill during the weekend of March 4th. He is most recently coming off a visit to Knoxville. On Tuesday, he announced that he would be announcing his commitment on Thursday. All tea leaves look like he may be headed to Tennessee after that visit.
Davis has a top 5 list of Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Tennessee. He was in Chapel Hill in January and just made a trip to Ann Arbor recently. Most experts expect him to commit to the Wolverines on Friday.
So if those two players head elsewhere, where does that leave North Carolina?
There were two class of 2024 quarterbacks that were on campus this past weekend for the spring open practice. Four-star KJ Jackson has been to North Carolina multiple times this year. The Montgomery (AL) native has risen up the recruiting rankings and could possibly be the next target. Also in attendance was Judd Anderson out of Jones County High School in Georgia. The 6-foot-7, 220-pounder doesn't have an offer from the Tar Heels, but it could be telling if he gets one soon.
