I still expect State to be very good, but they sure aren't at the moment.
I've only watched parts of a couple of their games.
Sometimes Smith looks like Phil Ford, sometimes he looks like a frosh feeling his way who still needs to turn the corner.
Maverick Rowan is still out. I don't know what his story is, but they need him.
Abu is good but for a guy who tested the waters last year and presumably plans to go pro this year, he needs to be better than what I saw.
Kapita has only played 3 games. Yesterday was the first time I've seen him. Not what I expected. Too prone to freshman mistakes but very good potential once he learns the college game. Some sweet offensive chops and good quickness around the basket.
Dorn is terrific. Kid has a 72.7 eFG% and 136.9 Ortg and handles the ball pretty well. If I knew nothing about any of the players, I'd probably pick Dorn as their best player.
Henderson is good, but erratic. That's why they need Rowan back. With Dorn, Henderson and Rowan, they are pretty solid on the wings. I also think Henderson will benefit when they can go away from a 4-guard set.
Obviously they need Yurtseven. But who knows if he will be ready to play out of the late gate. If he's good and as Kapita improves, they could end up with a solid front line. As mentioned, I think that will lighten the pressure on Henderson to good effect and make for a better team in several ways.
