Dennis Smith tears ACL......... out 6-9 months

Tuff break for the kid, wonder how this effects Bam's desire to play with him? I mean this type of injury while he can play by the time his college frosh season begins, it is usually a second year before a kid gets back to the form they were at before the injury. Will Bam really be excited about playing with a 80% PG? May sound cold but this is reality.

Bobby-Marcus-Dex-Leslie were never the same after they tore theirs.

interesting choices/possibilities for him-his rehab cannot be rushed for the sake of OAD-wherever he chooses ..the supporting cast how good will they be..will he more a complement,if he has less slashing ability-in one year...should he project 2yrs in college and less stardom year one

Wow, 6-9 months is tough. It will be unfair to the kid but with no play, no stats until Feb 2016 or perhaps until May 2016, his recruiting "ranking" will suffer. Tough break for Dennis.

With all the AAU ball these kids play it's a wonder we don't see more of these injuries. Tough break indeed.

Any reason why he couldn't strictly focus on rehab, not go to college, and then declare for the NBA draft the following year?

I'm sorry for Smith but honestly, this may work in our favor. Not necessarily with him. But this could have a ripple effect as David alluded to. Not only would Bam maybe hesitate on a commitment to moo because he won't have his buddy around, but moo won't be nearly as dangerous of a team without Smith.

There'$ $omething going on over at $tate, can't quite put my finger on it but it'$ $omething.

Yes it could be a possibility why take a chance of playing in college?

It took my son 14 months after he tore his ACL to finally play full speed 100%…obviously not the talent Smith is and not near the resources but it takes a while physically and then a little longer mentally to get your game back!! It will be October 2016 before he can really go…..my opinion!

What resources would Smith have that your son wouldn't? He doesn't have access to a college trainer/team physician or does he. I'm not trying to be a smartazz but I'm just wondering what I don't know about these AAU teams and arrangements and I am assuming Smith just comes from an average family.

That comment was not made as a shot at Smith or was not any kind of accusation...it was made strictly from the point that Smith is a High D1 recruit and because of that would probably have more resources available to him......D1 basketball is a big business and this kid is very good!
