So since the ACC and Pac-12 voted no to the top 4 seeds getting byes and 5-12 playing (higher seed homefield) for 12 team football playoffs, other schools are improving odds/schedules for getting into the playoffs going to football conf. So did the Big-12 not have a vote, or does Oregon, TCU, Baylor, etc not care about the football playoffs? Why does it sound like only the ACC and Pac-12 voted against it, or did the Big-12 vote for it; because the top four seeds wouldn’t change to help the Pac/Big-12 and adding another 8 teams is just getting more bubble teams mainly from the B1G and SEC!! So the ACC and Pac should have voted against it. It would just give the B1G and SEC a lot more teams/chances to win the championship; or be more games the ACC and Pac-12 would have to win to try and win the Ship.
And if UCLA, TX, etc have losing/crappy records in the Big/Pac-12, they think playing a tougher schedule will help them out? Sounds like they need a new AD!! Why doesn’t/didn’t the ACC try and pick some of or merge w the Pac-12 or some of or even a hybrid of the Pac/Big-12, which it sounds like those other two are in talks of merging; which leaves the ACC a very little pot to piss in. Even if they take the left overs for a third “wannabe-Mega-Conference” it wouldn’t even compare to the B1G & SEC; w Clemson, FSU, Miami, Baylor, Oregon, Washington, and the rest (compared in terms of football, where all the big money comes from). And actually the Big 12 seems to be keeping 6 and adding 6 from the Pac, if possible to keep them from the current Megas, to start another wannabe Mega, leaving the ACC “as is” (depending on what ND does; and if the FL schools stay put). Then possibly picking up some even worse football competition and making travel throughout the season much further with whoever the B1G, SEC, & Big-12 didn’t pull into their 12 to 22 team conference……. Super-Duper.
And ESPN could be re-evaluating the money from the ACC channel and how much money each school will get and for how long? So it could make it easier for teams to be pulled from the ACC; if the school isn’t withheld from getting any TV money until the contract is up in 2036….. Thanks college football playoffs; you ruined Christmas, Memorial/Labor Day weekend, my birthday, 300 yard drives during the first annual round of golf, brand new Jordans fresh outta the box, and Vincanity dunking highlights…. Ok, not VC highlights.
