How can they be that bad with that much talent?

They had an excuse early - lots of new players (both frosh and transfers who hadn't played together in real games) and several injured or ineligible players. But this is mid-season and everybody is healthy and eligible.

This is arguably not only Gott's most talented team but also his deepest. Seven players with ORtg above 100 and 2 more in the 90s, and the bench goes deeper than that.

Gott has made his living getting some good players out of HS and supplementing them with some excellent transfers. But will he be able to continue attracting those players if he can't win with this roster?

What they should have done was keep Sendak. This is when their entire program jumped the shark! They have been largely irrelevant since Mr. 20 wins left. His only problem was he didn't beat UNC and puke. Well who does consistently? Unless they can somehow find a real coach that would accept that ridiculous job, they might as well hope Gottya can grow into a coach or hire a competent assistant!

As a UK fan I really enjoy Tom Crean basketball and believe he deserves another extension! Those two sweet 16's don't come around every day.

As far as Gotfried, they wouldn't want someone like Missouri coming in and sweeping him up would they? Better make it a permanent contract.

Good question. Looking him up I see that when he coached Charlotte for 12 years, they made it to the NCAA tournament 5 times and the NIT 3 times. Not bad for a team at that level.

Seems he's an assistant in the D-League now.
