Didn't this board used to make fun of Dook transfers?

no...snowball rolling...done or not done either way just like rejecting NIT - the precedent is set...one year is a trial period ...Davis has no grace period-gotta learn how to develop a bench, but first gotta have a bench...employ change of defenses, a change of tempo.....NIL/transfers=inmates running the asylum...
regardless of who suits up in 23/24-Davis better WIN & get into NCAA ..winning will ease the pain

How many is that now for this year? Are we done.

Clearly the circumstances were different. There was no free-for-all portal situation when K was running players off. So the fact that duke players wanted to leave so badly that they were willing to sit a year emphasizes the difference.

Secondly, this is Hubert's first year and the guys leaving were not recruited under the assumption they would be playing this style of play except for Nickel.

With that said, of course it isn't a good look. But I do think the bleeding is stopped. I'd be shocked if anyone else left. Well, except Love, who I expect to leave.

Hubert better win and win big this year or he's out. Another year on the bubble and even sneaking into the tournament won't save him at this point. There are powers that be that would cut him loose right now in Chapel Hill if not for the fall back from a small contingent that wanted him hired in the first place.

Yeah UNC had the longest streak of no transfers in Div 1 for large portion of the 2010's. From Larry Drew in Feb of 2011 to Seventh Woods in April of 2019.

What's going on with the program right now is unprecedented on many different levels.

So who is running the show in Chapel Hill?

Interesting. Seems to me that the Dook guys who left never amounted to anything at their next stop, so maybe they just realized they werent good enough to play at Dook, so they left.

Ok. Of course I don't care what they amounted to and never bothered to pay attention. But regardless, it was still on duke/K for bringing them in to begin with. Call it a miss on player evaluation. Which is still reason to heckle duke, as if we needed one.

Hubert Davis is not an idiot, he may be really hard headed but I am pretty sure he realizes that things have to change and change in a big way next season. His bench, the bench that he clearly did not trust to help him win games, has pretty much gone away, does not matter if we feel some should not have, all that matters is they have now gone. While I don't think anyone has been pressured to leave by Hubert I would think his end of season individual player meetings had a different tone that helped the decision to leave to be made.

But I tend to look at what we need compared to what we have lost in players. It isn't a popularity contest of I like this guy so no matter what I am going to support him, it is hard cold business decisions that have to be made. Like we clearly need to become more physical, when your power forward spot is plugged with Nance and Puff, sorry but you just are not going to be real physical. Well those 2 are gone now so does he get a more physically gifted power forward, there will be some in the portal, or does he insist on another stretchy guy? We simply need more consistent production from that position and with a pathway to starting now wide open for a power forward I would think we could attract a really good one. Of course maybe Jalen can become that, maybe High but we need insurance, we don't need maybe because maybe can become maybe not quickly.

We need more production from the wing (3) spot and now that Leaky, Puff, Nichel are all gone the path to starting is as wide open if not more so than the power forward position. No secret, we need a shooter there, we need a shooter more than a slasher athlete guy that is not a pure jump shooter. And we need to get a guy that can give bacot some back up so we don't have to worry as much about Bacot getting in to foul trouble (which defined is he picks up his second foul in the first half). That guy could be Jalen, he has the shot blocker length and a sweet mid range game that can stretch out but he is not really physical and this team has to be more physical.

So with Puff gone I think we end up with 4 portal guys, really interested to see who they are because until then it is very hard to look at next season and we all want to do that.

Were not good enough to play at duke, I think this is pretty much a constant when guys leave from a major program, they do not see the PT due to who else is at their position on their team. There are exceptions to this but when you look at who we have seen go in to the portal from UNC the question of am I good enough to earn the PT I want is the consideration.

Just like it is on us when kids leave. I never understood the fascination with this part of the rivalry. Kids leave all programs all the time.

Well for us, they actually rarely left. Very rarely. But it did happen at duke with far more frequency back when there wasn't the free-for-all transfer portal. Also, it's just another reason for us to make fun of our rival. That's how it goes. Are you new to this rivalry thing?

He is not new to the rivalry; he is merely a very poor troll who doesn't understand subtlety! Just because a person uses "we" does not mean they speak for the Family!

There is no comparison between the peeps leaving now in this new world and the rat lord forcing peeps out or vilifying them because they might damage HIS legacy! UNC gives them advice about what is best for them while ratty clearly did what was best for ratty and Face has no history at all!

Interesting comments. Can I ask why you are so angry.

interesting. Got any more info on this?

we all sense this to be true, but there's been major issues from the whole declining the NIT thing. Not so much that we declined the invite, but the he said she said that came about and then Kirsch not willing to put a stake in the ground about exactly what happened was very telling for a lot. Place that on top of the outcome from this season, along with players entering the portal and some of the feedback (again 2nd hand) given about Hubert and it's not been good. It was shared that a lot of the folks that were on the "let Hubert learn and grow" bandwagon are slowly falling off after seeing him abandon anything and everything he "learned" from Roy, and then having the results he's had through 2 years, minus a 1 month run where we played lights out. To be candid, there's also a large faction of former players who are very outspoken about what's going on right now and what they see with Hubert's in game coaching, player management, player effort and accountability, and really all of the above. There's red flags all around and the grumbling is getting louder.

So is "grumbling" all there will be, or is something going to be done?
