I like that he has SEC experience, including at Auburn because of recruiting for a spread offense and the D that must work with its own spread offense. But what I may like best is that his time coaching in HS was at a church related school. That should mean his focus is going to be on guys with good character. We do not need any more Marvin Austin type trouble.

yeah, i was worried about the auburn connection (maybe the dirtiest program of all time) until i read that. also, i'm sure mack's reputation for running a clean program will continue. rule breakers are not welcome at UNC.

Auburn indeed has a very nasty history of recruiting illegalities. It seems from rich boosters willing to do anything short of murder to beat Bama. And I think part of the reason for Auburn boosters frustrations with Malzahn is that he shows no sign of being willing to work with them as they do whatever it takes to lure the recruits they think can beat Bama.

My guess is that Billy High learned rather quickly that a number of powerful Auburn boosters expect a director of football recruiting to be on the same page with them. If you are not that type, and UNC offers, you take that offer and never look back, even if Mack Brown is not at UNC.

Auburn and other SEC people may not be able to see it, but this is a great move for his career. At Auburn, if there is another probation while he is there, some of the blame will go to him. And because we know that both Mack and Brewster can land recruits, High can be a successful director of recruiting at UNC. If his dream is to do this job at his home town alma mater Tennessee, then overseeing UNC building a very deep and talented roster should do the trick.

There's a lot of atheletes in Georgia, and we of course have several on our roster....Getting Billy High to come to Carolina is a big plus in that aspect as Auburn generally recruits a lot of players from Georgia and North Florida, so that should be very helpful to have a recruiting director who is familiar with the High School Coaches and Football programs in that area of the Country.....So far everything is training in the right direction since Mack has returned, and this hire of High is another example of that....

i bet that's a big part of his decision to leave. an honest man would not fit in at auburn but he would share the blame when the cheaters get caught. as a man of integrity he must very impressed that the ncaa went all out for years against unc and couldn't find a single infraction.
