Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal defensive tackle Joe Goff just told me he will announce his choice next Wednesday, June 17. That's his birthday. His five finalists are Navy, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Maryland and Virginia Tech.
Most speculation has it that Navy and North Carolina have been his top two choices. He's got a great relationship with Tray Scott and loved his visit to Chapel Hill. On the flipside, though it's a rarity for service academies to take Power Five-caliber players if you go by offers, Goff's brother is going into his senior year at West Point and the prospect of serving his country is very appealing to him.
Goff is a resident of Massachusetts when he's not boarding in Virginia.
