Do you consider bringing Meeks off the bench?

I think it's clear that this offense is at its best when Paige, Jackson and Johnson carry the load in the half court offense. Brice might be the most gifted offensive post player in the country. I like that he gets to operate in more space without Meeks in the lineup because Meeks will eat up the paint. Also, that frees up Jackson to cut and gives him more space.

Also, not positive, but I'm pretty sure our +/- is pretty atrocious when Meeks and Johnson are each off the floor. This way, that lessens that probability and it lessens the probability that each will be in foul trouble at the same time. Both are very foul prone (Johnson 4.6 fouls/40 min Meeks 3.9 fouls/40 min).

Also, Joel is a better defender on ball screens and effort isn't really a problem with him, so he gives you what he can give you for a few minutes to start the game.

The flow this offense has been playing with has been great.

We're now the most efficient offensive team in the country.

We've also been pretty bad defensively. I think Meeks needs to play as much as possible, which means to me he needs to start. As Guadio pointed out, the spacing for Brice will be better with Meeks IMO (not worse) and we will also be better defensively with Meeks. Meeks demands attention. Other teams focus on him as well as Brice. I don't think they are focusing as much on Hicks just yet. Plus, Meeks is pretty good at getting Brice the ball himself. I think the +/- numbers with Meeks playing are so overwhelming you just have to start him and play him as much as possible. I think with the way Hicks is now playing the +/- numbers aren't going to be as bad as they were.

Absolutely 100% not. Big Joel needs to return to the bench pronto, and return to spot minutes... plus that would screw up the rotation. And sorry, but the comment about the ball screen D is just incorrect.

The original poast is full of fail Just no. Stop it.
Team has looked better with Meeks on the bench.

Nope.

Just like when Marcus was out, other players have stepped up (not really comparing Kennedy with Marcus, just the effect of his absence)

The result of Meeks being out has been numerous "good outcomes:
1. more mature Brice - I believe this will continue with Kennedy's return.
2. more confident Isaiah - he and Theo should be first two off the bench.
3. more confident Luke - growing in confidence, very handy front-court backup
4. more clarity about Joel James' role - he is a big-bodied reserve but not a starter.

The last point is the most important. Sadly for Joel, I think he'll lose the most minutes when Kennedy returns. He's still important and will be vital when 290 lbs and 5 fouls are called upon, but Isaiah and Luke have grown the most in the last couple of weeks.

I do believe Meeks is averaging around 12 points a game and the team will need those points when Johnson, Paige, Jackson and Berry are having off nights scoring the ball. Need the rotation to stay like it was before Meeks got hurt. Start Meeks. Berry, Johnson Paige and Jackson. Bring James in for Meeks, Hicks in for Johnson, May in for Jackson, Pinson for Paige and Britt in for Berry. Williams can get some minutes when the team is rolling. Start Meeks when he is ready and leave him in the pivot.

Spot on Oz. Roy loves Big Joel (and so do I), but his role will be likely limited to matching up off the bench when an opponent has a true 5 man. Hicks is obviously our 3rd Big, and as I suspected preseason, Luke will likely start getting minutes after him.

Meeks will likely start again. Maybe come off the bench the 1st game. Hicks is the only one deserving of taking his starting spot going forward. Problem is spacing is poor with the 2nd unit if you put Meeks and James together. The way Brice has played Meeks needs to compliment Brice and let him keep doing his thing. Not come back and congest the middle of the floor.

I agree with most here who say Kennedy needs to start when healthy. He's better than JoEL in every aspect of the game, save possibly energy level, you always know JoEL is giving 100%.

I'd like to see Kennedy at the elbow some, where he can pass or knock down the 15 footer. It would open up the inside and give our forwards more room to operate effectively.

Yep, leave it to jung to ask such a silly question...Man, I don't know who you talk to that helps frame your thinking but man, you really need to stop hanging with who ever it is. Just a completely silly question, you are trying to sell someone that Joel James is better than Meeks, NUTZS!

You want to be considered an expert, you tell me when it comes to Meeks "lack of effort", how much of that was related to the injury he has just spent the last 2 weeks trying to recover from? Did you not realize that a injury to a big man's knee will slow that big man down? Did you not know that, that isn't a thing you will see in your stat sheets and according to you if it can not be found on a stat sheet it is not a factor?

That flow that you refer to while Joel has been starting, you talking about the sweet passes that clang off his hands until Roy pulls him or the couple fouls he picks up in those first 3 mins before Roy puts Hicks in? You reckon maybe some of that improved flow actually is because we have Marcus back with Joel berry in our back court? No insult intended to Joel James, I realize the kid gives what he has to give but to suggest he is in any way better as a player than Meeks is just straight dumb!
