Do you think Britt will be better starting or coming off the bench..

The Pinson injury has already answered this question . .

Berry/Britt may be a small backcourt, but, its a fast one . . I like it when we can run and run and run.

jmho

I believe he should start. If you double his minutes from last year I truly believe that his stats could mimic that of Marcus from the same year. His minutes, points, assists, and rebounds are all half and could very well double. It wasn't an awesome year for Marcus, but could be an awesome year for Britt. I'm not saying that he will, if given the opportunity, but he certainly could reach those marks. Just a thought.

I'm kind of torn. I would definitely prefer Berry being the primary ballhandler and the guy running the offense so in that sense Berry playing with him at the 2 for now makes sense. Plus, if there is one thing I feel good about regarding Britt it is his shooting so he works there. However, that is a really small team on the perimeter. I think Williams is a much better defender and less likely to turn the ball over so in that respect I could see him starting. However, at this point he is pretty much a 3 and D guy (assuming he shoots better). He needs to become more than that. Britt will do some good things for this team for sure though.

I think, as some of our posters have offered, that Nate and JB will start. More ball security in those sets of hands on those two players.
If we can run like we should, the other guys will get their minutes too. Ought to be a fun team to watch.

Who I want to see start and who I think will can be 2 different discussions. I am fine with nate starting at the 2 but I want to see kenny initially getting near starter minutes, I want to see if he can earn the starting role. Be it offense or defense I do think kenny may be able to help us more, I think at some point that Nate's minutes and maybe his starting role gives way to Kenny and 7th.

Agreed. When we get going we should see more of those two guys, as Roy alluded to when it gets going fast Woods is a good one to have out there with his athleticism and Kenny opens things up with the jumper from distance or run it to the hoop...also longer on "D" than Nate.

I would like to see Britt start. He's earned it. BUT... I want KWilliams to get "plenty" of minutes at the 2 spot. Britt can split his minutes between the 1-2 spot. I worry about Britt getting fatigued unless someone else can reliably give some quality PG minutes besides Britt. Maybe 7th if he can minimize the Fr mistakes that he WILL make? What an awesome conversation to have tho...

While staff is high on Woods, and they should be, we often forget we have a solid senior on the bench that is like 27 years old now, and much bigger than he was a few years ago. Stillman may be a very important piece to our puzzle if we need some breather minutes.

A few years ago Louisville won an NCAA title with two 6-0 guards starting...It's possible. If Britt can hit jumpers in the clutch it could be a gamechanger.

JB has the strength and physique to play bigger than he really is. NB is a really improved defender, but he can tend to get beasted by the stronger 2's. This could be offset by having them cross guard if necessary. I prefer to bring in KW off the bench for change of pace or when needed to drop a few 3s. KW will get near starter's minutes if he continues to hit shots and play smart D!

Nate didn't look that good in the exhibition game. I'm a Nate fan so that's not knocking him; just how I saw it.

With Theo out, I would have assumed Nate will start. Lots of obvious reasons from he knows the system, to good handle, to doesn't make many mistakes, to good D.

But that lackluster performance - at the same time that some of our youngsters were looking pretty good - has dinged that starting assumption. Probably just an off game. He'll probably look fine Friday. He'll probably start.

That said, if it isn't Nate, I'd try 7th. Sure, Kenny is probably a safer bet and looks good. But 7th is the guy we need to evaluate. He could be a game-changer. Or not. So we need to find out. He was our PG a lot against Pembroke. Did pretty well. Now we need to see him as SG. My guess is that it's too soon for that to work because his outside shot is suspect. But let's find out early in the season, so we know before we are playing UConn, Oregon or Indiana (a 3-game, on-the-road stretch that starts just 12 days from now).

In sum, probably Nate but if not Nate, I'd try 7th.

I might even start 7th and have him and Kenny split most of the SG minutes, while Nate just backs up Joel.

I agree with most of what you said, however I believe 7th is Roy's hole card at PG. I bet he is going to give him a lot of time at point just so he is ready if we need a transition PG in the future. I see Felton and 7th as an awesome tandem next year to augment what we have and then he is ready if Leaky grows out of the position. KW will star next year barring anything unforeseen, but 7th is an awesome wild card to have. JB will need to be replaced sooner or later, and I bet 7th is Roy's safety blanket.

I suspect that's the way it will end up, too. But it will be good to see how he handles SG, as well. And we should do that early.

It will be nice to have the choice of a sharpshooter (Kenny or Brandon) or a slasher (7th) at SG, depending on what kind of team we are facing and what skill set we need.

Unless Nate's shooting improves a good bit, he is not really a "spark" type player. His shooting performance has generally been better the more minutes he plays. A lot of guys are like that, so that's not a knock. But it means he's not a great option if you need an offensive spark.

Then again, until we see more of this team, we don't know how much Nate has improved or whether guys like Kenny or Brandon or even Stilman might be good "sparks."

One guy who almost certainly will be a spark off the bench is Seventh. From what we saw in the exhibition game, the only thing holding him back as a designated spark is a suspect 3-pt shot.

Theo is probably our best spark off the bench, but from what Roy said, he was slated to be a starter.

When Theo comes back, will he have enough time left to become a starter or will someone else have settled into that role? We don't know.

The longer Theo's out, the more likely he'll end up being used as a spark off the bench - because he already knows that role. He doesn't yet know the starter role to that same degree and we may not want him (and his teammates) to have to learn that role if it's late in the season, even if he's 100% healthy. For those who prefer Theo as a SF and not a SG, that could be a blessing in disguise, since he will presumably take over at SF next year.

Bottom line: the SG starting role belongs to Nate for the moment, but he'll need to play better than he did against Pembroke or else Kenny, 7th or Brandon may take it away from him.
