Done with ports

You can still get some pretty good bottles of wine for around $20.

A lot of the intricacies of more expensive wines are lost on non-connoisseurs. Also, plenty of people claim they can pick out more expensive wines but get proven otherwise in blind taste tests.

But yes, good wine is great.

All this is true. But true oenophiles can discern good wine easily. True sommeliers are amazing. Master Soms are on another level. Did you see Somm on Netflix?

I didn't see it, but could be interesting and worth a watch.

I don't yet have a very refined taste, but I've been doing my best to learn. Have been visiting a lot of wineries and have a couple friends who lead some wine tasting classes and whatnot, one of whom grew up on a vineyard in Napa.

No, haha - I can't tell a lot of the differences either so that's why I generally stick to more reasonably priced wines.

Watch Somm. Great Doc

I can't do wine. I tried. I really did. I went for the hoity-toity look. Didn't stick. What can I say, I'm a Busch Light/Natty Light kind of guy. Kind of hard to take pinot out on the river when I'm fishing.

If I have to drink wine, only white for me. I drink to be refreshed. Everything I drink is cold. That's also why I don't get coffee. Why would I want to sip on a hot drink for 30 minutes. I drink when I'm thirsty and if it doesn't quench thirst, then what's the point?

But I get the hobby of wine. I do. I think the whole wine making process is cool and I dig the horticulture part of it. I could see how it'd be fun to sit around and talk about that with other enthusiasts.

I buy pretty much all of my wine at WTSO (Wines 'Til Sold Out):
https://www.wtso.com/

It's a great way to have good wine at a good price. Just sign up and you'll receive email alerts every time the current sale item sells out and a new wine takes its place, usually every four or five hours. Buy four or more and shipping is free.

I’ve started collecting in the last 2 years. It’s a lot of fun. We are building a cellar in the basement and I like watching the collection grow.

If you’ve never been, visit a winery or two (not Duplin). Winemakers are just farmers. Great people, especially the little guys. They grow a really fickle crop. If you like documentaries, check out ‘A Year in Burgundy’ for a look at wine making. It’s really neat

What's wrong with Duplin? Seems they have a pretty good business.

My theme song.

Staying a weekend at Trump winery outside Charlottesville in February. Gonna be huge. Believe me.

If I'm not mistaken Duplin Winery is the largest and was the first winery in the state. The joke on it is that it produces wines that mostly grandmothers drink.
