Dook vs. Kentucky

It was a cakewalk before. Now it's a stroll to Indianapolis with coach k and okafor holding hands and stopping for floor slaps along the way

Kentucky wins it all. If not its the biggest upset in NCAA history. Those guys are very very good. There isn't a team out there thats close. Kinda like the Heels 09 team. Duke doesn't have a chance, if they get that far. I personally would love to see Kentucky get their revenge for Laetners shot with a blowout of the Devils.

Wait, is that Winslow?

Dook v. Kentucky on Monday night would be huge ratings, but I wouldn't watch. I'm hoping Dook chokes next weekend, but UK just has a stacked deck. It would take an '85 Villanova type performance from any opponent to have a chance.

I don't want to think about that game....it means on or the other is NC'S

I still don't think that match up happens. I really like Zona's chances of beating UK. I think they're the most likely team to do it. And I think Utah and Gonzaga both can beat duke. As much as the headlines at ESPN want you to think duke is a player, they've played embarrassingly bad competition in their first two games. Robert Morris is Robert Morris and SDSU is probably the worst offensive team in the tournament. If duke runs through Utah and then the Zags, then I'll get a little worried. But just through the first 2 rounds, I'd say of all the ACC teams, moo has looked the best.

I had Zona vs. ISU in the final. Obviously, that's done. But I'll stick with Zona and say Gonzaga ends up on the other side.

Arizona can definitely beat Kentucky, and I think they're by far the most likely team to do so. UVA before Anderson's injury was probably the only team better equipped.

You're right about Duke's schedule. They struggle on defense and get SDSU, which is like struggling with your drive and playing mini golf instead of real golf. I have Utah beating Duke as I think they match up well, but Utah's offense is a bit 3 point dependent and those have not done well this tournament. Gonzaga can beat Duke as well.

I have family that went to Wisconsin, so they're my second favorite team out there, but UNC is a bad matchup for them. UW is better, but should be an interesting game. From what I've seen of UNC, it seems you struggle against PnR and penetrating guards, and I don't think UW can take advantage of that.

And UK already got revenge for the Laettner game in 1998, beating 1 seed Duke with an 18 point second half comeback that included NABC Defensive Player of the Year Wojo (lol, what a joke) getting beat off the dribble over and over and over. It was glorious. But I'll take beating Duke any time, any day.

I've got Duke and Kentucky playing for it all in my bracket with Kentucky winning, but this thread posts an interesting question.

I'd love for both to lose and us never have to worry about this scenario but truth is, both brackets they are in are weak as hell and getting weaker by the game. Although I HATE Dook, I can honestly say that I respect their program much more than I respect Kentucky's. I just don't like Cal and how the NCAA allows him to operate year after year.

So would you rather Duke win or Kentucky win? Duke wins and the lovefest grows, but if Kentucky wins, there are many that will call them the greatest college team of all time when we all know that there are 5-10 teams that have won a title (not undefeated) but would destroy this version of the wildcats.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I think if Duke meets UK, UK wins by double digits easy. UK doesn't need to double Okafor, UK is the best defensive 3 pt team in the country. I think it's a mis match. UK's depth can really wear them out too.

But it seems that Duke is the one program that can pull a win like this out. Didn't they do that against an undefeated UNLV? I was like 2 years old when that happened.

Anyway, I think if UK gets by Wisconsin/Arizona (either will propose a tough challenge)... No one from the other side of the bracket will cause much resistance.

Christian Laettner is not walking through that door, fans. Grant Hill is not walking through that door, and Bobby Hurley is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be gray and old. Coach rat face is walking through that door but the point is moot. Nobody is gonna beat Kentucky

the powers that be have had their eye on that ratings bonanza all season long. i'd watch it for a one-time payment of 200 dollars. (but not a penny less)

Ain't nobody beating UK this year.

Ya know, before the tournament started, I agreed with you. After watching WVU play, I think they can give the Wilcats a game and potentially be there at the end with a chance. Not so much because of their offense, but man their press defense is TOUGH!

I can see it now.................................close tight game! Winslow does the "kick" on a UK player, doesn't get ejected, hits the winning basket and all Big Blue Nation hates Duke even more!

In my bracket pool with my brother and our friends, I picked WVU to beat UK. I hope it happens!

Assuming it gets to that final ( I hope Utah beats Duke ) I will be most satisfied if Kentucky beats Duke like they are beating WVU tonight - a complete pasting.

LOL! Dang MIke, a Kentucky fans worst nightmare, but very funny.

College basketball is a guard's game. So for all of the bigs that KY has, the game still will come down to who dominates the guard play. While KY's guards with the twins and Ulis are very good, Duke's gaurd combo of Cook and Jones is just better at making plays for themselves and others. Not many teams have been able to contain them and I don't see KY doing it either. They will blow by the twins and are too big for Ulis to defend.

IMO there are 3 teams with a legit shot at beating KY and it would be a major upset if any of those 3 were able to but I really don't think duke is one of the 3. Of the teams left, Arizona is built best to take them on, Gonzage has a shot and that Whisky team if they play like they against us has a real shot.

But if Ky is hitting their outside jumpers, they are 10pts better than any team left standing, I think they would take duke by 20+...

I don't understand why people are hyping up to zags. They have pretty much played the same basketball since '99 and it in no way can beat s team like Kentucky, Duke, or Arizona.

Btw Wiltjer was at Kentucky for a year, Calipari knows the whole scouting report on him. UK would shut him down, and then it would get REALLy ugly.

I have a couple hundred reasons that Dook beats Kentucky in the championship game but after watching the Kentucky/ND game last night I have 1 huge question.... Who would the refs cheat for in that game the way those two teams are usually given the benefit of the doubt??

Case in point, when preparing to play the overall No 1 seed, you DON'T run your mouth and say UK will be 36--1 after you play them...Especially when you're freshmen. Result? A 39 point beat down.
