With the demise of the 5-second rule and the scheduled crackdown on perimeter hand-checking, this season seems like a great time to dust off the Four Corners.

Think about it, Put Paige, Britt Berry and Justin in charge. Two great free throw shooters, two decent FT shooters - and while you may not want Justin doing a lot of ball handling, he's actually pretty good at it and is a fine passer.

All we need is for one of our bigs to crack the 70s at the line. No need for him to touch the ball much, but we do need at least one big in there to protect the rim.

We had a number of games get away from us at the end last season. That should happen less this season just based on general improvement. But add the FC to our arsenal and who's going to catch up?

Note that it isn't just that we have the ball handlers to run down the clock, and the FT shooters to make them afraid to foul, but we also have the scorers to make them pay even if they let us run down the clock.

Shot clock reduction prevents the real 4 corners, but an altered version could effectively help us bleed the clock in late game situations. Hopefully we will just be able to step on the gas and make it unnecessary! I used to love it when Phil Ford put up the 4 sign; even the other team knew it meant game over!

not holding my breath on the hand checking. was called somewhat in the early season last year but when the games started to matter quin cook and duke was up to there usual hand mugging and no calls.

they are going to crackdown on playing defense with your hands every year they say, both on the perimeter and in the post. it never happens. we may see some ticky tack stuff called early in the season, but by conference play, the same goons will be able to play football and hold and grab their way on defense.

hand check...is that like the NCAA was going to put "palming" the ball as a point of emphasis a few years ago...every dang PG out there or any wing that "dribble drives" carries the ball.
The hand check may have bitten Brice in some of his fouls, he has a tendency to put a hand on an opponents back...old habit I suppose.

I don't think it's a staple but I'd love to see us run it the first possession of every season forever.
