Early Number ONE...

I saw Kentucky was the early number 1. Not sure if this is the same one or not. That said, I think Kentucky is not going to be a top 25 team next year. Way overrated.

Anyone ranking UK pre-season #1 this time has been smoking some of that bluegrass.

The way ncaab took a hit with early departures everywhere..UK will be a major factor!!..landscape of bball won't be as strong this year!!..if we don't make a legitimate run this year, then IDK when there will be another shot at a title.with the way our roster will be set up,we're resting our chances on signing 6-8 freshmen in 16'..that's scary to think of!!

My rating system tries to take rankings of returning players and new recruits/transfer into consideration, and UNC is clearly #1.

In terms on number of top 16 teams, SEC leads with 5, Big10 has 4, ACC 3, and P12 and B12 two. Some senior laden mid major will probably creep in too as Gonzaga typicaly does.

Teams like Wisc last year may not have highly rated players at time they are recruited, but gel.

Though ESPN and CBS do not even have them rated, I see Florida is the team after UNC that has the most collective talent, though not a lot of star power as much as lots of top 100 guys.

Even though Florida lost Carter, Frazier and Walker plus its coach, Billy certainly did not leave the cupboard bare for his successor, with Finey-Smith and Murphy now seniors but overall quite young, so may be a year way.

93 Florida Hill-4 Soph (last year's class)

78 Florida Finney-Smith-1 Junior
69 Florida Francis Freshman
65 Florida Murphy-7 Junior
58 Florida Chiozza-10 Freshman

21 Florida Stone recruit
11 Florida Egbunu Freshman
10 Florida Kurtz-9, NCAA for his 10 MPG despite being former walk on

a metric of 93 means the guys was ranked 8th overall in his class. 78 menas 23rd etc.(sum to 101 aince #1 gets a metric of 100)

If anything, I under rated Britt and James, as my method gives non top 100 guys who played 10 MPG an artibrary 10 points each, as I did with Florida's Kurtz.whereas guys with similar metrics last year on UNC can get 70 or 80 points, or in Florida's case 50 or 60 instead of 10.

I can't recall whether I used RSCI composite or 247sports.com, but for example Marcus was rated #16 which I translated to 85, using #1 = 100, #2=99 etc. such that the highest ranked players accumulate the most points.

Rating-points - player

16-85 North Carolina Paige-1 Junior
11-90 North Carolina Johnson-2 Junior
08-93 North Carolina Meeks-3 Soph
09-92 North Carolina Jackson-4 Freshman

30-71 North Carolina Berry-8 Freshman
15-86 North Carolina Pinson-9 Freshman
89-12 North Carolina Williams recruit
95-06 North Carolina Maye recruit
I did not find a rating for Britt or James from their HS senior ratings.

So UNC has two guys who rated top 10 in their class, and 4 guys rated between 11 and 20 for the most skilled group this coming year.

Some guys far exceed their HR ranking sand some guys underperform. Some guys may be highly skilled not play a lot their freshman year.

Just a way to try and validate the ESPN and CBS too early Top 25.

This method tends to favor the blue blood college programs and under estimate thee mid-majors and colleges who target guys outside the top 25 where they typically cannot compete with the UK's, UNC's Arizona. Duke etc.

I would be interested to know if Donovan leaving for OKC changes those rankings?

Yes, one recruit (Allen) has already de-committed.

I also changed it to factor in ESPN, CBS and Vegas odds. Here, not being ranked by either ESPN nor CBS really dropped Florida.

So first column is not a sort, just an indicator
