Elliot Cadeau Not Rushing His Reclassification Decision
Elliot Cadeau will be the starting point guard at North Carolina, but when? He spoke about it with us over the weekend

I think the guy more impacted is Dunn because his position is at the 2 but maybe the 3 in a small ball look, I think the add of Ingram really limits the need for small ball, not eliminate it but now have it for a different look that defenses will have to adjust to on the fly, which is in my book exactly how small ball should be, not a primary look. Cormac Ryan further buries Dunn on the depth chart and when Cadeau reclasses it will force the PG rotation to change, I think moves Wilcher to the 2, which is his better position I think), which even further shuffles Dunn back. I think that puts him no better than 3rd on the depth chart at either position he can play and it could drop him to 4th. Seth on the other hand would be the reasonable choice to back up Cadeau with Wilcher backing up RJ at the 2 with Ryan splitting time between the 2 and 3. I have no idea why Dunn has not already entered the portal, he must really love being a Tar Heel!I can't help thinking this waiting is tough on Seth and D'Marco. I hope they've decided to stay even if Cadeau reclassifies, but if Cadeau coming on board might make them leave, they need to know before May 11 (or whatever the last date to enter the portal actually is).
Should they enter the portal just to keep that option open? I think that might be smart. Would we recruit over them if they did? I hope not.
The danger for our team is that they might get such good offers that they'd leave, and then if Cadeau doesn't come, we'd miss them. Not to mention miss their contributions in future years.
I hope they stay - either way - but wouldn't blame them if they put their names in the portal, just to keep that option alive.

Well OK, then. I'll stop worrying about Seth. Good to know.
There’s no way Cadeau could play in the Peach jam if he’s reclassifying. He has to register for classes by June 8th.It is my understanding, I am not giving this as fact but I have been told that if Cadeau were to announce his reclass right now he would no longer be eligible to play AAU ball, meaning he would not be eligible to play at Peach Jam. Have been told that the kid looks at Peach Jam as his final moment, feels he has a great team to win the Jam, that he wants to go out with his crowing moment being the Peach Jam title, that this is VERY important to him.
Now of course Hubert, we fans we all want an announcement today that THE KID IS RECLASSING AND WILL PLAY FOR US NEXT SEASON. I mean UNC fans are wringing their hands and worried that we could be looking at another GG situation, we are not. Hubert, rightfully so, pressed GG for a reclass decision, he had to know so he could fill the 4 spot opening if GG was not reclassing. GG agreed to stray in the 23 class and not reclass but did so with the whole world knowing momma was not about that. Knowing that momma wanted her son to play for the college across town from where they live, to play for her school! That is far from the case with Cadeau, we not only have the ships available if he wants to reclass or not, which was NOT the case with GG once Hubert took the nance commit but has players in place that can play no matter which way the kid decides. I think Hubert already knows the kid is going to reclass and I think Hubert as well knows it is not going to be made official at least until the Peach Jam. Even more important is I think BOTH Seth and Demarco know as well and they would be the most impacted with a Cadeau reclass decision. I think everyone feels this is a done deal but no deal is ever done until it is actually done, the horses not in the barn till all the horses are in the barn.
And what about the NIL aspect of this, think maybe the NIL folks are not thinking maybe we need to goose those numbers even more so this kid will make it official, kind of smart move I think. LOL
I may be totally wrong and have been many times but I doubt UNC tells him he can’t come or register after that date. Athletics rule in most situations. There’s no way Cadeau could play in the Peach jam if he’s reclassifying. He has to register for classes by June 8th.
If he’s playing college basketball this fall at Carolina then Hubert Davis is going to want him on campus in June working out and playing with the rest of the team.I may be totally wrong and have been many times but I doubt UNC tells him he can’t come or register after that date. I agree but you think coach would take him after July 9th?If he’s playing college basketball this fall at Carolina then Hubert Davis is going to want him on campus in June working out and playing with the rest of the team.
Ah ha! Another tricky variable. Is that for summer classes or fall classes? There’s no way Cadeau could play in the Peach jam if he’s reclassifying. He has to register for classes by June 8th.
What do you think is the motivation there? Is it just winning for the sake of winning? Or is there some other benefit / exposure to Peach Jam? The average basketball fan doesn't even know what Peach Jam is.Because the moment he announces it, he's disqualified from EYBL. He put together this great team to win Peach Jam. He's gonna play with them.
Hopefully Dunn isn't going around reading the unfounded speculation like Seth is.Well OK, then. I'll stop worrying about Seth. Good to know.
Anything similar on the Dunn front?
The deadline to register for fall classes is the end of August. There’s no way Cadeau could play in the Peach jam if he’s reclassifying. He has to register for classes by June 8th.
Mike Copeland had to take late summer high school classes to qualify for UNC. He got his grades in late August, then enrolled before the Fall Semester deadline. You are correct. The other guy doesn't know what he's talking about.I may be totally wrong and have been many times but I doubt UNC tells him he can’t come or register after that date. Athletics rule in most situations.
I wouldn’t say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What he stated is true. I’d imagine those are correct dates. I just also know that there are exceptions.Mike Copeland had to take late summer high school classes to qualify for UNC. Michael Copeland makes the grade for UNC
North Carolina's men's basketball team is apparently on the brink of adding a fifth player to this...www.tarheeltimes.com
The Registrar's Calendar is online for everyone to see. Fall classes and late registration begins August 21st.I wouldn’t say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What he stated is true. I’d imagine those are correct dates. I just also know that there are exceptions.
Seth shut that nonsense downHopefully Dunn isn't going around reading the unfounded speculation like Seth is.
Maybe Dunn figures with a good off season work schedule, and improvement in area of weakness that he can earn additional playing time this upcoming season, regardless of who is on the roster. Not saying that he will, but he may be able to compete at a higher standard than he did last season. And maybe you are correct in your assessment that he must really loves UNC?I think the guy more impacted is Dunn because his position is at the 2 but maybe the 3 in a small ball look, I think the add of Ingram really limits the need for small ball, not eliminate it but now have it for a different look that defenses will have to adjust to on the fly, which is in my book exactly how small ball should be, not a primary look. Wait until the summertime...What do you think is the motivation there? Is it just winning for the sake of winning? Or is there some other benefit / exposure to Peach Jam? The average basketball fan doesn't even know what Peach Jam is.
He wants to win it. He helped put the team together. That's it.What do you think is the motivation there? Is it just winning for the sake of winning? Or is there some other benefit / exposure to Peach Jam? The average basketball fan doesn't even know what Peach Jam is.
I have no issue with it at all. Just curious. He wants to win it. He helped put the team together. That's it.
Kid wanted to win a National Championship at Link, and he did that. Now he wants to win Peach Jam with his team.
Honestly, I'd think most people would be impressed by his commitment to winning.
