NIL is going to help us for the future. Players rarely go to a school because they have a personal connection. It's all about winning and building a brand. Outside of about 10 teams, they aren't going to be able to win. That means building a brand and making some money will be a priority. UNC is a good place to build a brand and make money despite the fact we aren't a national power. As a starting QB, Sam Howell has a 19-14 record.
That's hard to believe. I don't know how in the world Mack Brown got him to come to UNC, but he definitely worked some Hogwarts magic!
And, any future quarterback, with a lot of potential (whatever that is, these days), who sees stats like that, has to wonder: "Do I really wanna play THERE? They lose way too much."
That is the problem with UNC football- it has a tradition of losing too much. Players don't have the same NEED to win as a player will have at a place like Alabama. It's like an addiction, there! They NEED IT! UNC Football doesn't feel the NEED to win!
There’s truth to that but NIL still makes me afraid for college sports.NIL is going to help us for the future. Players rarely go to a school because they have a personal connection.
