Not surprised. Scanning the interwebs this off-season reveals (with a couple of exceptions) a general cluelessness as to UNC's personnel situation, which is also not surprising given our convoluted situation last season ;).

There are not 100 players better than Berry, Hicks, and if he builds on the way he ended last season I would maybe have to add Joel James to that list.

Gary, your opinion, do you really think it is clueless or may I suggest a over all lack of respect for UNC?

I tend to think it is just a lack of body of work at the college level although same could be said for Pinson. Berry should see it as motivation.

Dave, I read a bunch this off-season, and it is a combination in my estimation. Some of it is expected in that every national sports outlet can't be expected to know the inside nuances of a given team the way we as supporters would... but on the other hand some of it is pretty obviously a case of folks sticking to their preformed narratives.

Guys, pre-season lists miss great players every year.

Almost a decade ago I wrote to Mike Decourcy from sporting news cause he'd left Bogut off his preseason Wooden list (everyone did!) He had the good grace to admit his mistake but then left Patty Mills off a couple of years later!

Point is, who cares what a media hack says, let Joel B do his talking on the court and we can laugh at the "experts" in April.

I think you probably have to be a fan to appreciate Berry and Isaiah. In fact I'm a little surprised that Theo made it on the list. WE are confident they are good enough but, between injuries and playing behind other good players, if you weren't watching the games you didn't see what we saw.

My guess is that Theo made the list despite injuries because before he went down he dazzled some of the time and seemed to be turning the corner earlier in the season than Berry.

If we can add 2-3 to that list we will have a special year! I think Hicks and JB are locks to make it and I believe we have a few candidates to join them if they play close to potential in KW and JJames,

Yeah, the "who would you put ahead of them" question is tough to answer. That's my same reasoning for why UNC should be preseason #1. Even if you think that may be a bit too high, who are you going to put ahead of them.

I don't know how many D1 players there are, but if you figure 351 teams and, say, at least 10 players per team, that's a lot of players. The top 100 is only the top 2.8%. Just on numbers you'd figure there must be 95 guys (in addition to our own 5) better. But who are you going to put ahead of them?

Then again, if you go around looking at the top 68 teams likely to make it to the NCAA, probably every fan base is asking that same question about someone on their team who missed the cut.

Let's hope Berry and Isaiah have fun proving the list-makers wrong. Which is to say let's hope we have fun watching Berry and Isaiah prove them wrong.

Don't forget Nate. He'd start on a lot of teams, including some very good ones. I'm looking forward to see what he's worked on coming into this season. Even though Roy has signaled that Berry is ahead of Nate in the rotation, let's not forget who Roy turned to to help win the Arkansas game in the round of 32.

If I counted correctly, 18 of those top 100 are going to be freshmen this season.

I'm sorry. I'm sure a number of those guys will be very good and justify their rating, but they haven't played at this level yet. If I had to bet, I'd bet half of them or more need at least a year to show that they deserve to be on this list.

I'd like to see a top 100 list without any freshmen on it.

Oh, I'm sure that is part of it, Theo pops with potential.
Truth be known though, JB "turned the corner" way earlier than some like to believe.
(Trust me, our veteran players knew.......)
