Disappointing end to the season for sure, but I am truly excited about what we have next year. We played the number 1 seed in our region to a very close game that could have gone either way at the end. And the last 2 weeks have been exciting for this team. Stay healthy next year and we are going to look back at today as a great step forward. As I said, I am truly excited about next year.

Thinking positive, I like that.

I like the idea of a sophomore Justin Jackson. That kid is special.

If our 3 main juniors stay, we'll have the experience and leadership necessary to make a Final Four showing. Our 3 freshmen this year are coming on strong. Jackson and Berry will be able to score 3's like Paige. It will only get better.

A Sweet 16 was a fulfilled expectation this year.

also looking forward to next year..but we're still one consistent shooter away from being championship material..gotta learn to stop the stupid fouls!!

Yep. A Healthy team with senior leadership and the way that Justin and Joel came on at the end of the year have me feeling like a legit Final Four team for next season.

I think most rational fans knew that sweet 16 was likely the ceiling and we should've gotten to the Elite 8 if not for that 3 or 4 minutes of lost focus.

No moral victories, but good effort and a stronger finish than most of us expected.

GO HEELS!

I don't agree with that PROVIDING Jackson and Berry continue to get better. I thought they shot well down the stretch. Hell, look at UK...how many rally good shooters do they have?

May surprise you but I think we have them. Paige, Britt, Jackson, and Berry. Next year I predict we actually will be one of the top 3 point shooting teams. Again, the future looks great and I will enjoy the last few games of the season as a fan of BB but I can't wait...

We only had 5 turnovers scored 72 points hit 8 3s would have thought that would of been good enough to win.

Heels were 3rd best at 3pt shooting percentage in the ACC, IIRC, but last in 3 point attempts. You're right... we have 4 pretty good ones, just need to shoot a few more when we have good looks.

No doubt man. At this level though gotta do it for 40 minutes, 35 not good enough...

This should be a Final 4 team IF everyone comes back. Any word on that?

I thought UNC improved greatly from the time UK played them early until now. A team I did not want to face in this tournament. That Jackson kid has a very good chance to be the next great player in college basketball. I thought y'all played Wisconsin about as well as they could be played. They are so fundamentally sound, you have to beat them, they will not beat themselves.

It's gonna be fun watching the improvement in these guys next year.

I am comfortable with our shooting and I know that isn't the consensus on the board. I believe our biggest weakness is dribble penetration on defense. If we can improve on that, the sky is the limit. It is by far our biggest weakness.

the good news is that everybody returns, the bad news is that everybody returns.

i say that somewhat tongue in cheek, however, there's a lot of truth to that statement. this is a team with many holes, and none of these holes are going to get plugged with summer work. The types of holes we have get plugged with new players that have the ability to do the things we need. things like a legit shooter from the wing. a post player who can protect the rim on the defensive end, and get easy baskets on the offensive end. Those are just a few.

Things we can work on with what we have is toughness and consistency. I think the consistency issue we had this year had a lot to do with injuries, but frankly, had a lot to do with Roy's god awful sub patterns. We never developed a cohesive first unit, and wave of 2nd tier players that could be productive consistently. also, defensively, we have to be a lot better in the post and with our post players defending both in the paint and on the perimeter. it's been highlighted numerous times that this was the first time in forever that our opponents shot more free throws than us. it wasn't uncommon for us to have at least 2 bigs in foul trouble damn near every game. If you look at those fouls, they were stupid fouls on ball screens, getting out of position then slapping at the opponent going in for a layup, etc. we will miss assignments and make mistakes on defense, but we've got to limit the really stupid ones. same goes for the offensive end. limit the dumb mistakes and unforced errors. This team played really stupid a lot this year, especially late in the game. We did some things consistently bad late in games (under 4 mins) that cost us 5-6 wins this year easily.

Themes for the summer should be toughness, good repetition, and situational IQ. We have some kids that shouldn't see the floor but Roy chooses to play them so he should at least run them through situations drills to continue and hammer home fundamental things that make basketball teams successful. I'm not saying he doesn't do that already, but he needs to continue and hammer it home, or don't play the kids who continue to run around with the "I'm lost" look on their face.
