Biggest story line: last time Chizik and Warren arrived in Chapel Hill, they totally refashioned and invigorated a moribund D. If they succeed even close to that level this year, then this team should win the Coastal.

Will the OL be improved?

Will we finally have developed enough of the WR talent to have a full 2 deep?

The RB room is loaded with potential: can Larry Porter develop it?

The only true and proven Home Run talent we have is Downs. Will the passing game be emphasized enough to get him enough catches to make the offense explosive?

that's a key point. both QBs will get plenty of snaps early in the season, but the guy who eventually wins the job outright will be the one who demonstrates better chemistry with downs.

This from Chizik is music to my ears:

Q: What are some of the areas of fundamentals that needed a lot of work that you guys think you’ve made a lot of progress?

CHIZIK: “Tackling, number one. We’ve emphasized that ad nauseum. So, it’s been tackling, how we approach tackles, how we finish tackles, body position-wise, where we belong on tackles. So that’s been number one. The other is just striking blocks and playing in gaps, and just playing the defense the way the defense was designed.

“It’s not about guruing up all these defenses, it’s about us being able to get off blocks, strike blocks, never stay blocked, tackling in open space, al of those things – creating and forcing turnovers, which we worked today – that are really going to get us where we need to be.”

I think the TE’s will figure into the offense more this year. We’ll probably see less home run passes and more “move the chains” intermediate passes. Hopefully one or two more WR’s will step up to help Downs.
