Tiger birdies the first. Looks like he’s focused and ready to roll

-2 through 4 for tiger. Great start, looks like he’s starting to put the full game together.

I'm pulling for him . . there are just so many great young golfers out there these days. I'd like to see him at least in contention come Sunday.

The dry summer has made it look like they are playing in the desert this year . .

His distance control has been really good so far, which is crucial. The young guys definitely won't make it easy on him.

DAMN he almost just holed an amazing putt from off the green. Stopped right on the lip

Can't close these rounds. He threw shots away at 13 and 14 before the brutal stretch coming in. You're not going to win majors 3 putting from 25 feet and making par on a 500 yard par 5.

Course is as hard as a rock man the rollouts on these shots is amazing.. Cablanasian doing pretty well loads of good players at the top. DJ blows up on the back nine he may not make the cut.

71 is good enough for Thursday. Needs to shoot 67/68 tomorrow though

Rain and wind in the morning wave tomorrow, not going to be many 67/68s.

He got the bad end of the draw this year. No one in the last 12 groups were under par on Thursday and Friday morning should be the worst weather of the week.

Yeah I just saw the weather report. If he can stay at par or better he’ll probably still have a shot on the weekend

Greens be softer by the time Tiger starts, and the wind isn't doing anything crazy yet.

This morning could be a race to see who can get some good scoring in before the weather turns nasty. Then it will be a war of attrition

Man, this end of the draw really got lucky. They've had the easier conditions both days.

right!?!?...what’s the forecast for the weekend?

Clear skies and wind picking up each afternoon...Tiger may have a bit of an advantage tomorrow morning with the smooth greens and light wind, definitely will be a 66-67 out there for him if he plays well enough.

Nothing goes better with a morning coffee than watching some Open golf . . and a ton of folks are very much in the running to win this thing.

Tiger had a big par save at #1, now he’s got a really good birdie look on #2. I like his chances to get in a good position to compete tomorrow, if he can pick up a few strokes on the front 9

He’s gotten to -2 after 8. Would be fun to see if he can put himself in the mix for tomorrow.

He’s playing well, but the putter still hasn’t gotten hot yet. Will be interesting to see if he can keep the momentum going on the back 9 and give himself a chance to pick up a few more strokes.

The real question is whether or not any of the leaders will post a 65/66 type round. If they do, he could still be outside of striking distance

About to be -4. Looking like vintage Tiger right now.

I thought that 9 iron shot of his was going in . .

Speith starts the day with an around the rim 'eagle' . . gonna be a great day to watch some fired up golf.

Got another shot at birdie here, needs to stay hot and not give anything back after #14

There are a few golfers out there that appear to be absolutely dialed in for this round thus far . .
