  • joelberry2While I'm still looking ahead for another great season, there is still a shadow behind us that reminds us that we have unfinished business. See ya soon Fall! #Getintoyourbag

Think Joel Berry last comments came from a list Dick Vitale made of the 50 best players in college bball and Mr.Berry wasn't on the list...Brice Johnson gave him so great advice also!

I love what I think this team can do next season, of course we have some questions that will need good answers but I do think we have the players to provide those good answers. It is just a matter of them merging the freshmen in and who steps in to lead this team. IMO, Joel Berry being one of the best PGs in the country is a given, he is the only guy on this team that I don't have questions about.

Justin Jackson, as simple as I can put it, this should be his season to shine as a star, this is his season to remove all doubt. Time to go from being considered a star in the making to a bona fide go to scorer that can take over when we need someone to step up.

Hicks, time now to take over and establish yourself as one of the best big men in the college game. Of course slow down the fouls, we all know that but time for Hicks to look for scoring ops, rather than clean up garbage, set up and demand the ball and play nasty physical down low, attack as soon as the ball gets in your hands. Attack your defender deep in the paint and force him to foul you or back off you. Meeks has to do the same, attack defenders inside the paint, don't shy away from contact, seek it out!

Theo, keep being that guy that raises the team intensity level when you step on the court, please learn to shoot the ball... Theo is to me like a smaller version of Dennis Rodman, he can strongly impact a game and do little on the stat sheet and yet team is not nearly as good without him as they are with him. Theo isn't a garbage man type of player, he may be the king of garbage man type players, keep on taking out the trash young man!

And from there the question is will someone step up to command the 2 guard position and if so who?

I'm guessing Nate and then KW...only 'cause when KW goes Donald Williams this season I'm gonna be here like someone else on these boards with the I told ya so... :D

Now I wonder who that someone else would be Tom?

It is sad that the players have so much more faith in themselves, the coaching staff and future Heels being recruited than MANY MANY fans here...

Can't speak for everyone but as for me, I have said and still believe that we can be as good this coming season as we were last season, meaning I do think we are final 4 good. Doesn't mean we will get there and doesn't mean we will win it all, just means I think we will be final 4 good.

But we go in to every season with questions, the difference to me is some seasons we have better answers than we do in other seasons. I think going in to the coming season our list of players that have to step up is a list that I really believe will. For example I feel very good with the players we have that will have to step up and command the 2 guard position, I feel Hicks will really take it to that next level that would have already been seen had it not been for picking up so many fouls.

You already answered it: Theo... and KW.

Whether it was dookie V or others doubting Carolina, as I said last Spring, no matter who left, as long as JB is running Point we're gonna be pretty doggone good.

Theo to start and KW as the go-to change up guy that shoots lights out! Others will take spot minutes and back-up minutes at SF and/or PG

I'm certainly one of the ones who have touted KW as a potential break-out for us this year!

I see us getting back to the FF and possibly having the increased outside proficiency to win it all.

I haven't really heard any pessimism about next year other than on recruiting. I also would hope the players have more faith in themselves cause they have a heck of a lot more control than any fan. The day the fans have more faith than the players well a bad season will be on the horizon.

I am slightly more excited to see this year's team than last, due to incoming class and the Jr. year of one of my favorite classes. I didn't anticipate the consistency from Brice that we got last year although I certainly expected more of it from Paige at least in shooting.

Don't let the facts get in the way of his narrative of "half you guys aren't real fans" ....

Not too worried about our guard play, we have it covered but I do hope that Hicks can slow the game down just a hair and not get in a hurry. If he shows the maturity and patience we all hope for then, yes, I agree heelmanwilm, I would love for Isaiah to have a solid season, now as to JJ, he'll be solid, way solid, believe it. Kid will be another special Heel along with Hicks..

I agree. If anything, fans tend to be overly optimistic in the preseason.

There are many who are concerned about our recruiting, myself among them. But nothing that signing 2-3 quality big men from the '17 class wouldn't dispel.

Hope this makes our boys ticked off! Play with a chip on their shoulder, make3s em play tuffer! :)

Pessimism is an art form for some peeps; as natural as breathing!

But so far I haven't seen it directed at the team, so I don't know what he was talking about.

Most on here are real fans even if they don't all see eye to eye!

Most of my negativity surrounds recruiting and our situation with getting bigs to come to chapel hill lol. The team itself I'm quite optimistic about.

Of that there is absolutely no doubt! It's why he's one of my favorite Tar Heels.
Hi Archer2, you are also one of my favorite posters. You have a wonderful SPIRIT. I wish you PEACE & HAPPINESS and also the ones you LOVE. THAT IS A FACT JACK

!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TAR HEELS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you on ecstasy or something?
Hi carolinablue34, NO, but my brother, at 66 years old I have a very different outlook on life. I can say with a true heart that when our UNC TAR HEELS lose a game, I wake up the next morning with a SMILE. A few years back I could not make a statement like this. With age I have learned that their is worst things than your team losing a game that can happen in your life. I wish you and the ones you love PEACE & HAPPINASS.

Meanwhile ALL of Duke's freshman are there! JJ made the list I think.
Yeah Mikey, let's just say there's a good reason Vitale has been banned from calling UNC-dook games. He just got to the point where he couldn't hide the dook worship. He used to have some good insights and evaluations but c'mon... Joel Berry is best all-around PG in the country, will be on all the watch lists and likely pre-season 1st team All-ACC. Either Vitale made a huge goof or he's just lost it,
