After being on Butch's staff, AHC at Arkansas State, OC at Maryland , OC at Florida State and then HC at UMass where he did great things for a few years.

UMass is a very rough place to coach football. I also think he was not ready to be HC.

Yes, he was a good recruiter and he also seemed to be a sound TE coach.

But he was not with Butch; he was a protege of Blake Anderson, which is how he ended up on Fedora's staff. He followed Anderson to Arkansas St. Supposedly Fedora asked him to stay but would not make him OC.
