Loved that story! My dad is uber anal about paying for the cheapest gas. Back in the '60's we were on a trip from nc to ala and he had to deal with not knowing what station in some podunk town had the cheapest gas. We kept going station to station and pulling up to the pump and driving off as he shopped and leaving the perplexed attendants standing in the lot. (They were all full service back then). Seems ala in general had higher prices and my dad was furious. We were in fumes and my mom was busting his balls hard. She was pissed we were gonna run out after he drove off from one station and i can still remember him saying "ray (last name) will NEVER pay 75 god*#%+ cents for a gal of gas!"
This is one thing I've never understood. People are obsessed with finding the lowest gas price (oooh ooh! Don't fill up here, it's 2 cents cheaper around the corner!)
.
Lol strum my dad had a knack for getting frustrated and doing or saying something embarrassing. Me and my sister were messing around with his freaking stapler as kids will do. Stapling everything in sight. He blew a gasket. Snatched it from me and started lecturing how it wasnt a toy and we could hurt ourselves blah blah blah and as he was waving his hands frantically to emphasize his point he managed to hit himself with the stapler and put a staple right in his cheek.
With my Bi-Lo bonus card fuel perks, I just paid $1.52 a gallon. That's the least I have paid per gallon since... college? I can't remember when. I filled the Cherokee right up! I have to go to Atlanta again tomorrow.
Oh... well, my memory is bad then. It's been a LONG time since it was this low.I remember $0.99 gallon in 2001.
