Georgia 6th Congressional District Special Election

I see that none of you watch the news. That's cool though. To each his own.

I try not to. And when I do mistakenly watch some news, the ones I'd be watching most certainly are not going to focus on GA state politics.

Care to enlighten the rest of us on what this election is, and why we should be interested?

Karen Handel. Essentially, it's a vote against Jon Ossoff.
I'm confused with this for two reason:
1. I thought republicans hated women and think they should stay in the kitchen
2. replace republicans with "white southerners" in #1

Because the media still thinks everyone hates trump and the republican candidate will lose every election because of trump.

Also, there is a good chance that a democrat could win because of GA's weird election setup. The winner of the race has to get 50% of the vote otherwise there will be a runoff. There are something like 10+ republicans in the field and 4 democrats, so it's possible that the vote will split in such a way that there would be a run off between two democrats.

Here's the district in map form:

Basically, it's a district that always goes red. Trump only won the district by like 1%, but that's an outlier. Usually it goes red by like a 20 point margin.

The election is to replace U.S. House Rep Tom Price, who resigned so that he could join Trump's cabinet. Dems see this special election as an opportunity to capitalize on anti-Trump sentiment. They're backing young Jon Ossoff.

Ordinarily, yes, but dems are basically all on Ossoff. He's the only one whose ads have been on TV (and they've been on nonstop). No other Democrat is really in the running.

But yes you would be correct ordinarily that it could turn into a run-off between two people from the same party.

Yeah, I guess what I was trying to get at is that there are so many people in the race that it could end up being a weird result. Also, GFY for not writing in Luke Maye.

I was wearing a Carolina shirt, and the cop at the precinct nodded at me as I walked past and said "nobody likes a bragger!"

I told him to go taze his own balls. I smiled and said "I wasn't gonna say nothin!"

That guy probably thought you were a lock for an Ossoff vote with that shirt on. Wonder if you threw off any exit polls that made that assumption as well.

I hope you walked to the polls. The roads around that joint are suspect. I have to go to Buford this week and I wish I had a helicopter.
