Get aggressive my friends

I keep seeing it and I'll keep saying it. In the NCAA tourney, the aggressor is
usually the winning team. It seems like the refs let most teams play handsy,
aggressive defense in the tournament. Arkansas is very aggressive defensively.
We have to match or surpass their aggressiveness and take the ball to the
hoop. We settled for way too many jumpers the other night. In fact, it seems
like the last 5-6 games, every team has been getting to the line more than
UNC. Let's Go Heels!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though we are an inside-out team, on paper it does seem surprising that we seem to get less FT attempts per game than most of the teams we've played lately. HOWEVER, I have to believe it's because quite a few of our recent opponents utilized the dribble-drive effectively against us, where we do not. Plus the refs these days basically call a foul every time somebody drives to the basket, especially when the offensive player initiates the contact and then flings themselves to the floor. This irritates the crap out of me...

That being said, our bigs don't usually go strong to the rim (other than Hicks). While Brice has a nice touch around the basket, he doesn't typically "Okafor" his way to the rim (i.e. push, hook, and knock the defender down with his wide-azz self). Kennedy doesn't have enough lift and is usually getting stuffed by flat-footed dudes, and Joel... well, if the poor guy can hold onto the ball, his one-and-only move is that turn-around J (on the bright side, it is usually money).

Back to the OP... yes, let's get aggressive Heels and take it to them as often as possible. Having Berry run the point would be a bonus since he's not afraid.

While this game has me nervously concerned about our silly turnovers, I have to feel good about the fact that teams that want to push the pace against us, usually play right into our hands. It's the deliberate paced teams (UVA, Harvard, Butler, etc) that magnify our mistakes since the possessions are limited.

Yea I kind of agree with your comments. Do we live and die via increased PT by JB today? Lastly, I've seen times they were better off if JP just takes the WIDE open three, even if he misses. How about (although many here will disagree) I have confidence if he is all alone he can hit this. As a coach, I want him to take it...
