Only one who can't hot 3s next year is Meeks.

Bradley can. Maye can. And those are down low guys. Then add in berry jackson pinson williams etc. Good lord.

I expect us around the top of the ACC in 3s this year.

Theo is a 3 shot maker? When did that happen, am I sleeping, is this a dream? LOL

Been able to see Theo working out here lately at the gym and his shoots looks to have changed for the better he is more straight up and down now compared too last years him fading back.

I expect we will have some explosive games but I hope and expect that we still work inside out, only more successfully from the outside. Hopefully our inside game is consistent enough to continue to make room for those shooters.

I see a lot of potential out of this years team, but a 3 point shooting explosion is not one of them. I even think we will be a better 3 point shooting team than last (hard not to we ranked near bottom in nation most of the year).

Kadyn, I sincerely hope Theo can get his sot solid but I do want to caution just a tad. It is one thing to use better mechanics shooting around in the gym, it is a much different thing to be able to rely on those mechanics in a game where you are already hyped up. Guys practice and practice the right way but to often revert back to what they knew in the heat of battle. That is why you have to put up thousands of shots, to ingrain that muscle memory to the point the right way becomes the natural way.

I would be ECSTATIC to see Theo become a 35% jump shooter for next season and feel comfortable that he could shoot well enough to play the 2 spot.

Hicks should (if everything goes right) get the most minutes of all of our big men, and he's made 1 out of the 5 3-pointers he's attempted in his career. I wouldn't say Meeks is the only one who can't hit threes.

I'd be happy if we're middle of the pack in the ACC in 3 point shooting - it'd be an improvement, and show that Roy is adapting to the 3>2 philosophy that has gained traction both in the NBA and in the NCAA in recent years.

TB finished 3rd out of 5 competitors. He shoots pretty well for a big man. Let's leave it at that. If he's anywhere near as good as Brice from the elbow that'll be fantastic.

I don't think Bradley will have the green light to shoot 3s limits what he can do if he's out that far . He not a real threat to blow padt someone. I can see him in the 15 -18 ft range though to give Meeks more space to operate down low

He will.shoot them and make them. He isn't the most consistent but he can be very streaky. Don't forget he shot 40% in HS.

College ain't high school and untill his mechanics are ironed out he is not shooting nearly that in college. Let me ask you, I assume you watched Theo for the last 2 years play for us, is there anything about his shooting stroke that makes you believe he will suddenly become a deadly jump shooter? Maybe that can change and maybe it won't but what we have to base things on is what we have seen and not what we hope happens.

He doesn't need to be a "deadly" 3 pt shooter. He has confidence to chuck them and will hit them around 33% this year I'd bet.

My bets.

Berry 38%
Jackson 37%
Pinson 33%
Maye 30%
Williams 28%

I wouldnt be surprised if they all easily exceed those low estimates. Last year we just didnt chuck the 3 a lot. %s werent real awful.

Without Brice in the middle, we will be shooting them a lot more.

I hope Tony will be in the post when he and Kennedy are in the game together.

How are Tony's hands? If he has good hands, we can take advantage of Kennedy's good passing by putting Kennedy in the high post.

With 2 ball feeders in the game (Joel and Kennedy), 2 slashers (Theo and Justin) and a rim protector (Isaiah or Tony) - and most of them able to keep defenders honest from deep - we will give most teams fits.

Theo and Justin are pretty good passers, too. Which should produce lots of give and go opportunities.

I am with imajericho on this one. I think we will be a much better 3 point shooting team next year IF JJ can avoid his early season slump. I believe Kenny Williams and Luke Maye will be more confident and show the 3pt range they have. Berry, Jackson, Britt, Williams, Maye. I won't be surprised if Theo starts hitting at above 30% clip! Marcus and JJ went through a long stretch of struggling last year.

I've been calling for this for the past three years and haven't seen it yet so I'm not holding my breath. Not sure why we haven't utilized Kennedy's passing skills and ability to knock down the 15 footer, which he demonstrated amply in high school.

I think it's mainly because Kennedy was in the game with guys who weren't well-suited for that. It requires guys who are good at parking near the rim or guys who are good at slashing to the rim to benefit from Kennedy's passing. Mac and Brice had different skill sets. But Isaiah can do either of those and maybe Tony can, too - or at least play close to the rim. I hope so.

Those of us who have been calling for this may be overlooking the obvious. Maybe Roy evaluated Kennedy in that role and it didn't work out.

That said, I think this is the year where that would work the best, so I hope we see it.

I think Brice was perfectly suited for it. Now perhaps you're right and Roy has tried it in practice and decided it wouldn't be effective. But having watched Kennedy for three years, I can't help but think his skills are perfectly suited for the high post role. It negates his lack of elevation and his trend to set up too low in the block, effectively allowing the rim to act as a second defender. He has a very nice 15 foot jumper, something he demonstrated over and over in high school. And he is a good passer.

I still hold out hope that we'll see him in this role but it's looking less likely as time goes by.

I agree that it should have worked well with Brice as a senior. But the thing is that Brice didn't really need that kind of play. His quick leap and quick release suited him quite well pretty much wherever he got the ball within his range and no matter who got it to him. Isaiah should benefit much more having plays run for him that deliver him the ball as he moves toward the basket - which is what I'm picturing.

What I'm trying to say is that it might have worked fine with Brice, but wasn't needed, so wouldn't have added much advantage. But with Isaiah (and Tony?) it might be an advantage.

We know Isaiah can battle inside if he has the basketball down there. We've seen plenty of that grit after an offensive rebound. So delivering it to him down there should expand his offensive game.
