GG Jackson draft

My bad. Didnt see that another thread was already created. Mods can you delete?

About where he was speculated to go. He has work to do. Going to Memphis, he may be with my former kid, Damien Jefferson on the G League some. I will be interested in his takes on him if they are teammates for some time.

On the flip side some of the most successful college stars got passed over once again, which also was expected.

Timme and Big O Tshibuwe not even chosen. Jackson-Davis 2nd to last pick in the entire draft. ACC player of the year once again at the tail end of round 2 with Wong. Unanimous Big 12 player of the year and key scorer on their NCAA Championship team last year Jalen Wilson end of round 2.

Truly ridiculous, and unfortunately it will be the same for Armando and many others in 2024 draft.

Fortunately Armando has the intelligence to stay in school and bank NIL money.

Tshiebwe, Timme, even Cockburn a year ago all had the same decisions to make. They know exactly how the NBA currently feels about traditional low post centers.

All facts about banking as much NIL money as you can but it still doesn't change the fact that traditional bigs have been pretty much removed from the game at the expense of the 3 point shot.
Maybe if Miami Heat traded some of those missed 3's for baskets in the paint, we have a 6 or 7 games series in the NBA finals. #FoodForThought🤔

Timme did not even get a two way deal like Leaky and the other undrafted with team interests. A two way contract still earns over a half a million 550,000 or so, half the rookie minimum.

Timme was only offered an exhibit 10 contract from the Bucks. It does give the opportunity to try to earn a two way with them though if he shows potential.

It almost sounds like "the Roy way" vs "the Hubert way" (or maybe my analogy is off-base). Just as a talking point, what's your preference?

If Jokic and Embiid continue to be dominant players and Embiid ever gets to the point where you have to go through him to win the East, then there will be a select few contending teams that will need just big bodies to throw at those 2 players. So maybe for like 5-8 teams, they will value the traditional big man some. So maybe some hope for Bacot. This remains to be seen though since Jokic only won his first ring. But if the Nuggets advance to the NBA Finals next year, it wouldn't surprise me if the Kings, Suns, Clippers, Warriors, and Lakers prioritize some traditional size at least in the second round.

And this isn't the point of this thread, but if you think the Heat were going to out-2point the Nuggets on their way to a more competitive series, then lol. The gap in talent was ridiculously large in the Finals. Miami had to play a high variance series and hope they got hot. Miami shot 43% from 3 in the ECF. They didn't win that series because they played "Carolina Basketball" or "Miami Heat Basketball". They won that series because they shot the absolute crap out of the basketball.

Nikola Jokic averaged 30.4/14 and you think Miami would've been more competitive shooting 2's against him? See what happens when you try to getting into the paint against Aaron Gordon. How was Max Strus, Caleb Martin, and Duncan Robinson going to consistently get in the paint?

I also don't know why it's "ridiculous" if Bacot doesn't get drafted in 2024. The NBA game has evolved a particular way. That happens. Is it "ridiculous" that a 3-and-D guy didn't have an NBA career in the mid 90's when the game valued big guys because of the slower pace? It's ultimately up to the individual player to evolve their game continuously.

Good analogy Doc, and give me the RW by a landslide!

But I have hope for HD if he can/will incorporate some of the "Real Carolina Way" into his NBA version of doing things.

Praying hard because he's a good dude and fine representative of the university 🙏

I agree that HD is a good person and loves UNC. There are a few things that I wish he'd change, or just quit doing, but he's not a sleaze bag. I understand that a lot of guys transferred, but I don't think it's because they didn't like HD. I hope he has great success and is still here twenty years from now, but I think his seat is getting pretty warm. Go Heels !!!

I'm no Kensucky fan but I like that kid.
He reminds me of Kofi Cockburn from Illinois who went undrafted last year after being a college star. I think Kofi played in Japan this year, after getting a quick look from Utah's G league team.

Couldn't agree more, it's his "show" now. #PutUpOrShutUp✍️
