Glenn Frey dead at age 67

From TMZ:

We're told the cause of death was a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.

Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse.

Don Henley said, "He was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken.
He added ... "We built something that has lasted longer than anyone could have dreamed. But Glenn was the one who started it all. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some."

RIP

Saw them here in Greenville in July which has now turned out to be one of their last shows. Have seen them five times and Henley solo three times. Great band and great music. Henley is my fav but sad to hear about GF. RIP

Eagles had a tumultuous relationship but hey were always one of my favs.

The recent History Of The Eagles is an awesome biography. I was never a fervent Eagles fan, but I loved Joe Walsh. I. of course, had some Eagles songs that were my favorites. I never cared for Frey's songs, but he was an amazing musical talent and a prime example of someone getting what they wanted and making a dream a reality.

Glenn Frey RIP

Last I saw of him, he was checking out of the Hotel California . .

This could just as easily be the "song from your youth" thread. Of course Frey is best known for his work with the Eagles, but this song seemed to be on the radio 24/7 when he was a regular on Miami Vice. Haven't heard it in forever so here you go. RIP Mr. Frey.

Hotel california was one of those 8-tracks/albums/cd's i bought and lost prob a dz times. Along with boston, aerosmith toys in the attic, ac dc hiway to hell, and the Who

But occurred to me this morning, the reason we're seeing so many great artists die is because all the great artists were great in the 80's. Cant help but think this is just the tip of the iceberg as all our greats are in the twilight of their lives.

In 1980 I was 10 years old and threw a pool party. We had a boom box and 2 tapes. Hotel California by the Eagles and a tape by the Commodores. We put Hotel California in and put on repeat and listened over and over all night long while playing in pool. Never will forget that party.
