Will be traveling down 70 to Beaufort next Tuesday and need a suggestion on a good BBQ place for lunch. I plan on stopping at Wilber's on the way back Sunday (for their chicken gravy) but would like to try a different one on the way down. Help me out guys....

I haven't been there, but, they say 'McCall's' in Goldsboro is very good. I may be rolling through Goldsboro next weekend and give it a try myself. I do like Wilber's so much that it is hard not to stop there every chance I get, which is usually only twice a year.

Please give us an update no matter where you stop

Might try that out. I have been trying for years to get to Grady's, which is close to Goldsboro, but they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. If you're ever in the area on Sunday go by Wilber's. They serve the best chicken gravy with their hushpuppies on Sunday. The gravy has a little of their BBQ sauce in it. Its what gravy will taste like in heaven...lol

Stonewalls is the best around Goldsboro but he only serves BBQ on Saturday.

Goldsboro resident here (well, just outside, but still), and I actually live next door to the owner of McCall's. It's good, as is Wilbur's. I don't know if you are going to go through Wilson, but Bill's & Parker's are both good as well. My family probably goes to Bill's the most often, but I've eaten at all of them, can't really go wrong with any of the ones mentioned

We ate at McCall's last Tuesday and they have a very good buffet that includes their BBQ. Its not Wilber's by a long shot but the buffet is really good and a good price. We stopped at Wilber's on the way back yesterday and it was great as usual. They serve their chicken gravy on Sundays and I love the stuff. On the way down I wanted to try Scott's in Goldsboro but they were closed. Scott's is one of the oldest black owned businesses in the state. I've heard their bbq is not what it once was but the place has a lot of history. I read once that back during the Jim Crow era Scott's would serve only whites inside and the blacks had to go to a window and get their bbq to go. Unusual for a black owned business even in that time period.
