Got to give props to Nate for his game yesterday. 17 pts. in 16 minutes, 6 for 8 shooting,
2 of 3 from 3 pt. range, 3-3 at the FT line and zero turnovers. He can be an "x" factor for
us off of the bench. He looks very smooth on his shot last year and seems to have a
great attitude. Hope he keeps getting it done.

Just one more weapon that opponents will have to prepare for. Now that Britt and Berry are both hitting from the outside teams will have to think about playing zone a bunch against UNC. And Paige and Jackson are also outside bombers. It is a good thing that Carolina does not have to solely depend on Paige to do all of the perimeter shooting anymore.

I'm almost there but not quite. I need to continue to see that Joel, Nate, and Justin will hit 3s with regularity and especially, in the big moments. But yeah, if those 3 guys have improved their shooting as much as the early season suggest, we can be better than I initially thought and I thought we'd be pretty damn good.

Great article in Gary's thread about Hubert coaxing our guys into taking extra 3-pt practice and we're set to reap the benefits this year. Great teams are made in the off season.

Thanks for pointing out Gary's thread. Good stuff there!!

I was very proud of him Sunday.
You guys know I've called it like I see it on Nate. He has worked hard to correct his shooting stroke and it's paying off.
Still he entered this season with the following weaknesses:
1. On-ball defense
2. Pounding the ball (too much aimless dribbling
3. Taking the ball into PG no-man's land (into traffic and/or trap areas with no plan and the inability to finish)
4. A poor sense of floor spacing (an absolute must for PGs)

From what I've seen, he has learned something running with MP and JB and the pros this summer, and thus far #s 2, 3 & 4 have improved. Not yet ideal, but much improved. That is a good thing. As for #1? Well that's, shall we say, still a work in progress.

The most encouraging thing is that he seems to have realized he needed to get better or lose his minutes. I have it on good authority that is quite literally what he faced after last season. Good on him for getting after it and being a valuable team member!

Spot on Gary. Great insight. I love Nate, but he has been pretty
inconsistent the past two years. Hopefully the hard work will pay off for
him and the Heels.

Said a couple of weeks ago, Nate isn't Batman, he's Robin.

It looks like Nate has worked that one out and he's beginning to thrive in that off-the-ball role.

When he does have the ball in his hands it seems he's feeding off the tempo of Joel B and now Marcus, learning to push the pace without the dribble and moving the ball sooner after getting it.

Great to see him do well, with Theo and Isaiah Roy has a very good trio to turn to on the bench.

Roy is on record calling him " Microwave", the nickname given to Vinnie Johnson of the Detroit Pistons back in the early nineties.
