'Great' Practices Aren't Translating Into UNC's Games

I think that’s BS. I don’t believe for a minute that the team is having great practices and then playing so poorly. Makes no sense.

I wanna know what the chemistry issues are. I did see RJ pissed at Nance after Roach had that easy layup. And roach said in his post game that he knew he would easily score there because he saw UNC was having zero communication on screens. I'm guessing Nance isn't communicating in regards to screens then and that's why RJ was pissed off.

So we now are going to call Hubs a liar if he says things that are positive in a presser AND condemn him for telling the truth we wanted to hear all along! Maybe if he just sits there and says nothing it would be received well??? He is probably lying about the chemistry issues too, even though everyone with at least 1 eyeball can see them! I intend to remain patient because it is one of the most obvious truths in human existence that it takes time to overcome the momentum of a huge organization and get it to move in a different direction! It is obvious that all coaches in history had to grow into the job and that NONE of them showed their best side until they had seasoning and the players that fit what they do/teach best! BUT it is easier to rail against the dying of the light than it is to fight the darkness!

It isn't all BS Arch, realize, in practice they are going against gu7ys they have been going against for a good bit of the summer up to now, they know each others tendencies well by now. They get in to a game and they go against guys they do not know all that well and then they have to deal with a look they are not used to in practice. At the risk of sounding like Iverson, you can not replicate game li8ke conditions on the practice court.

The importance of practice is the repetitions that are framed in such a way as to develop good habits to replace old bad habits. Problem is when players get mentally stressed they revert back to what they used to be able to get away with.

TP, my concern with Hubert is that it takes this long, this late in the season to realize something ain't right and is in need of some fixin. I don't really care what Hubert tells us at a presser because I already know he isn't going to tell us much of what we really want to know, he shouldn't, that should remain between he and his team. I want to see on the court in game progression from 1 game to the next, not this regression stuff we have watched for most of this season, we should not be regressing in Feb.

My biggest alarm bell is when an NFL team says either they or their quarterback had their best week of practice.

Hubert has greatly improved the effort, intensity of individual players on the defensive end. Roy talked about lack of effort, want to, etc regularly his last few seasons. Hubert for the most part has solved that effort issue. On ball defense is the individual's attempt and success/failure is measurable/visible. In general, our on ball defense is winning defense. But the moment you merely introduce a simple screen/roll, it falls apart(the Wake game was a constant display of failed defense resulting in open shots).

JMO, the problems with team defense is the same issues with the team offense. It is a lack of system. Hubert has failed to implement a complete offensive or defensive system. He has installed sets that contain ideas/principles. This is rather hard to understand since Hubert played for Dean(an ultimate system coach) and tutored under Roy (who had patterned offensive system). The reoccurring visual failure of offense/defense can only be solved by a system. Unless Hubert gets some intervention implementing a system before next season, Carolina will fail to maximize its talent.
