OCT. 12, 2024
KENAN STADIUM, CHAPEL HILL, N.C.
• Mack Brown is 110-77-1 as head coach of UNC. Brown is 285-153-1 all-time and is
the winningest active head coach in the FBS.
• Since Brown returned to take over the UNC program in 2019, Carolina owns a 41-31
overall record. Eighteen of the 31 losses have been by seven points or less with four
setbacks coming in overtime.
• UNC is 23-11 when a player rushes for over 100 yards since Brown returned as head
coach in 2019.
• UNC has had a player rush for at least 100 yards in each of the first seven games for
the first time since 1983, the only other time that has happened in UNC football
history.
• UNC is the only FBS program with a 100-yard rusher in each of its first seven games.
• North Carolina is 22-34-3 all-time against Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels are 14-13-2
all-time against the Yellow Jackets at Kenan Stadium.
• North Carolina has lost six out of the last seven contests against Georgia Tech.
• Carolina is 0-3 in the ACC for the first time since losing its first three ACC contests of
2017 to Louisville, Duke and Georgia Tech.
• UNC has lost four regular season games in a row for the first time since 2018.
• Brown is 7-7-1 against Georgia Tech as head coach of the Tar Heels. Brown is just 1-4
against Georgia Tech in his second stint as head coach of the Tar Heels.
• North Carolina’s first offensive drive ended with a fumble, the second time UNC has
lost a fumble on its opening possession this season (also did so against James
Madison). UNC last had multiple games with either a fumble or interception on its
opening drive in 2018 (fumbled against Virginia Tech and was intercepted against
Western Carolina).
• UNC held Georgia Tech to 134 passing yards, the third time this season opponents
have thrown for 200 or fewer yards against the Tar Heels.
• Georgia Tech’s final-minute touchdown was the first time an opponent has scored
the game-winning points in the final minute against UNC since Oregon scored a
touchdown with 19 seconds to play in the 2022 Holiday Bowl.
Offense
• Omarion Hampton had at least 100 rushing yards for the fifth consecutive game and
the sixth time this season. It was Hampton’s 15th game with at least 100 rushing
yards, making him one of seven Tar Heels to have 15 or more games with at least

100 rushing yards. The last Tar Heel to have 15 or more games with at least 100
rushing yards was Leon Johnson, who had 15 from 1993-96.
• Hampton is the only Tar Heel with multiple seasons of six or more games rushing for
at least 100 yards.
• Hampton’s 71-yard rush in the first half was the longest rush of his career, besting
his previous long of 68 yards against App State in 2023.
• Hampton’s 71-yard rush was the longest play from scrimmage of the season for the
Tar Heels and the longest play by UNC since Drake Maye completed a 77-yard pass
to Kobe Paysour against Syracuse in 2023.
• Hampton’s 71-yard rush was the longest by a Tar Heel since Elijah Green had an 80-
yard rushing touchdown on UNC’s first offensive play against Georgia Tech in 2022.
• Hampton’s rush was the longest play allowed by Georgia Tech this season and
Georgia Tech’s longest play allowed since the 2023 season opener.
• Hampton is the first 100-yard rusher that Georgia Tech has allowed this season.
• Jacolby Criswell’s 53-yard pass to JJ Jones in the first quarter was the longest

completion of his career. It is the second-straight game Criswell has set a career-
long completion (Criswell completed his prior career long for 48 yards).

• Criswell scored his first two rushing touchdowns of the season, bringing him to
three for his career. Criswell’s first rushing touchdown was against Wofford in 2021.
• Criswell is the first Tar Heel quarterback to have multiple rushing touchdowns in a
game since Drake Maye had two against Duke in 2023.
• JJ Jones caught his second touchdown pass of the season and the seventh of his
career.
• Jordan Shipp’s 22-yard reception was a career long.

involved in a tackle for loss for the first time this season. He has two career tackles
for loss.
• Georgia Tech’s Haynes King is the first opposing quarterback to rush for at least 100
yards against the Tar Heels since Duke’s Riley Leonard ran for 130 in 2022.
• Georgia Tech had two players rush for 100 yards (King had 127 and Jamal Haynes
had 170), the first time an opponent has had two players rush for at least 100 yards
against UNC since Florida State had two players rush for at least 100 yards in 2020.
• Georgia Tech had 371 rushing yards, the first time an opponent has had over 300
rushing yards since Georgia Tech had 348 in 2023. It was the most rushing yards by
an opponent since Georgia Tech had 461 against UNC in 2018.
Special Teams

• Alijah Huzzie’s punt-return touchdown was the first punt-return touchdown for the
Tar Heels since Huzzie returned a punt for a touchdown at Pitt last year. It was the
second punt return touchdown of Huzzie’s career.
• Huzzie’s return was the longest touchdown return on a punt since Dazz Newsome’s
75-yard return against Syracuse in 2018.
• Huzzie’s touchdown was the first punt return for a touchdown against Georgia Tech
since Tucker Holloway returned one for 90 yards for Virginia Tech in 2022.
• Noah Burnette’s 50-yard field goal in the third quarter was his second field goal of 50
yards or more. Burnette hit a 52-yarder against Minnesota the season opener.

Burnette has 45. Gwaltney finished with 43 from 1988-91.
