Here be dragons
Y'all do Halloween?

Taking the kids trick-or-treating? Any good decorations? Grownup parties?

My wife was out of town and came home to find our girls in the fridge ...

I'm not as anti-Halloween as I used to be but I still don't really like it. I'll put on one of my G.W.A.R. t-shirts and take the kids trick-or-treating but absolutely no way am I "decorating" for Halloween. I find it silly.

For the record, I don't get horror films either. I know there are few folks here that love those (@coryfly @heelz2345) but I just don't dig on that kind of stuff. I watched about 15 minutes of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 or 3 (I can't remember) the other night and thought it was the dumbest shit.

In regards to Halloween, I like the zany stuff. But vampires, zombies, blood and stuff seems kind of demented.

I love Halloween. I kind of like dark things anyway though. We have a dress up day at school and a party Saturday night at someone's house. I'm going as Slash for both. My wife is going to be Axl on Saturday night. This is the outfit when I wore it for some rock n' roll day we had a few years back. Sorry about the other dude. They just wanted a picture of us both since we were the guys in the school.

I think Autumn and Halloween is a very cool time of year. It's hinting at the holidays to come (which are exhausting). My Dad died on Halloween, so that makes it a constant reminder, but October is a very cool month!

I don’t really love horror movies, I like some but there are only a handful that I would watch more than once. I’m not a fan of gore for the sake of gore which is what a lot of the current stuff seems to be. I did highly enjoy Get Out and It though, was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. A successful horror movie (IMO) is one that makes you care about the characters and if they live or die, not ones with a bunch of random cannon fodder for Freddy/Jason/whoever to slaughter for 90 minutes

The horror comedies can be good. I just watched a couple Netflix horror movies that were decent. The Babysitter is pretty good for a horror comedy and 1922 (based on Stephen King's book) is good as well. 1922 would fall under the "makes you care about the characters" type of movie.

I only like the horror movies that are so terribly bad that they're actually good. The ones that are poorly acted and take themselves way too seriously are the best ones, IMO. Those are more comedy than the ones that try to be comedy.

Yeah, horror comedies are actually among my favorite types of horror movies. Shaun of the Dead, Cabin in the Woods, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Zombieland, Evil Dead, Beetlejuice, Young Frankenstein, and Little Shop of Horrors are all great. I've been trying to watch What We Do in the Shadows before Thor 3 comes out since it's the same director, it would be in the same vein as those (pun semi intended)

Is "Horror Comedy" a real genre? I would have just referred to the movies you listed as "comedies".

Well, I would call "horror comedy" a sub-genre, but you would be fine calling all/most those comedies; I wouldn't disagree with that classification. It's just a more specific term, like punk rock would still fall under rock and roll, it's just a sub-genre within the larger context.

Yeah, I do love horror movies but not generally the popular stuff. The franchise movies all suck except for Halloween and Jeepers Creepers. The best ones these days are indie stuff. We just had someone on the main board ask about NF horror films and I listed a bunch on there I really enjoyed. I bet only a small number were ever really theater movies.

I enjoy a movie that is creepy. Gore is something I usually find silly, and torture movies are just dumb. I do really want to see Get Out. I think I'm too big of a fan of the book to enjoy It so not sure I'll watch it. The only recent horror that was somewhat popular that I've enjoyed was Mama.

I think some like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland fall into that category (both which are good). I think other times they are just so bad they label them that to avoid saying they made a terrible movie.

Theres a huge party called zombiefest here in wilm we dress up for. Its a blast. The bands all dress up and play halloween theme music and covers. Always lots of sexy nurse and sexy devil costumes about.

I always make sure to check out a “rocky horror” showing somewhere this time of year too.

My brother is guitarist for old Wilmington metal band called Faith Collapsing. I don't know if they even play anymore. But he's really into halloween, etc. so guessing he participates in this.

I'm curious how this was accomplished, but terrified of the potential answers.
The wine inside the box is in a plastic pouch with a connected spout. The top of my hiking backpack comes off and attaches to the hip belt. So basically I put the wine pouch inside the backpack top (with an ice pack to keep the wine chilled) and had the spout stick out the front of my costume.

I thought people would love tapping my box (#phrasing). But participation was a little disappointing. Maybe it was because people didn't want to mix wine with whatever they were already drinking. Or maybe it was because the spout was located in my crotchal region. Hard to say for sure.
