Buttery Soft. Your starting center WONT dunk. Your back up center cant rebound and LITERALLY WONt stretch out his ARMS Vertically. It is Unbelievable to watch. I wish Roy would SCRAP the platoon system and simply play the BEST players. He gets more production using Maye than James...............Williams than James................................the cheer squad than James. We (Carolina fans) are very astute as to good Center players.........................Meeks/James are not good centers. So scrap the center and play 3 forwards. Hicks is a MAN. Hicks needs mucho playing time. He makes things happen. James is one of those players who causes havoc unfortunately for his teammates and NOT the opposing team. This team is toooooo loaded to lose UNI and a WEAK Texas. Tell me K would have lost those games with this squad and I will shut up.

Lehigh and Mercer say "hi"!

I am a fan of Hicks. However, there are way too many people who don't realize how important Meeks is to the team and don't realize how much Hicks struggles to rebound. Meeks needs to be in the game as much as possible. If it was possible for Kennedy to never come out of the game we would be undefeated right now. Him being in the game is critical. The entire team is better when he plays.

Regardless, the team isn't hard to watch. They are elite offensively and good enough defensively until we start having to spell guys.

Only thing I agree with is that Joel does more harm than good. He's the only player in unc history with as low a +\- that still gets consistent minutes. There are times we'd be better off with Steve Robinson on the floor in his suit.

Meeks definitely wasn't Meeks. James on Ridley was the best I've seen Joel James play all season. You really want Maye going against that beast for more than a couple of minutes at a time? And Coach K wouldn't have played AT Northern Iowa or Texas either.

I hate dook as much as anyone of you guys and sometimes I think on an unhealthy level of hate lol but why do we give a flip if dook plays away games or not? Who cares what they schedule? We're the ones doing it and so far we're the ones losing it ..tournament games are on nutreul courts right? Don't get me wrong I love that we challenge ourselves by scheduling on the road games prior to conference (esp the ones that get our kids back to their hometowns) but there's 1,000 things to hate dook for.. Them not playing road games I just don't see it being one of them

I realize that Roy bases his offense on having a premier center(hans, zeller, maye). KMeeks is not a premier center. Therefore, we must adjust. Well Roy does not like to adjust much.............the "tried and true" Roy system. Get used to seeing Meeks get shots blocked and out run up the court....................................oops that is ALREADY happening.

If we play Meeks less, we lose more games. The numbers support that overwhelmingly. They did last year as well. The sample size is now large enough that it matters.

I'm a bit surprised to see people calling for Kennedy to get LESS playing time!

meeks may be a different type of big than May, Zeller, Hans but would much rather see other guys on the floor than have to matchup with Meeks. Where he may have some weaknesses, he has unique strengths that cause major problems for teams. He needs to be more aggressive and tough at times but I would take a player with his skill set in a heartbeat.

"more aggressive"................thats my point "Buttery Soft" how do you teach GRIT?

meeks is a very good center with regard to his skill set, but mentally you're right -- he's still playing soft. he changed his body to be a strong center, but can he change his nice guy personality on the court? anybody who's optimistic on that point please share your thoughts.

That hurts! Joel is going to make you guys eat your words.

All of the 3 main big guys are needed. I just wish Roy would be a little more flexible with who he plays more minutes based on the matchup. In an instance like Texas where the length and size they possess is a bad matchup for Meeks. Why not play Hicks more hell start him because he has the quickness and athleticism that was much more of a matchup problem at the 4 spot for Texas. While Hicks is still too foul prone he has developed into a better player going to the rim and his FT shooting has really blossomed.

In college he can play the 5 spot. Hell in the NBA he can play the 5 spot at times. Draymond Green plays C on the best small ball team in the NBA.

Smoking that real grass if you're comparing Hicks to Green. Two completely different styles and body types in my opinion. Draymond has always been a more athletic Kennedy Meeks with far better on the ball defense - due to much more lateral quickness. He typically plays under the rim but is far more athletic and can shoot it out to the 3-point line. On top of that, dude plays with a motor that only Psycho T makes look sluggish. Hicks is going to be a really good player and I think he deserves a lot more PT; however, he is a slimmer guy and can't play any more than the 4. ESPECIALLY in the NBA. He'd get eaten alive playing the 5.

No different players but Green is 6'7 235 to my point his size doesn't stop him from playing the 5. In small ball scenarios height doesn't matter.
