Meh. I don't really give a shit either way.

I would however like to highlight how overly liberal, overly sensitive, and overly PC this article is that talks about the change. It's amusing (read: annoying) to me that writers nowadays just throw in opinions but act like they're facts.

"... would bump [Andrew] Jackson, a white man known as much for his persecution of Native Americans as for his war heroics and advocacy for the common man..."

Lol, did you go around and ask everyone in the world if that's their perception of Andrew Jackson? That's some SERIOUS reporting work!!

Unfortunately most people probably wouldn't know who he was. I saw a show the other day where they showed people a picture of George Washington and most of them didn't know who he was. :(

It doesn't bother me who is on the front, but last night at rehearsal for the show I'm in, some people were talking about it and one dude was really ticked about it. I said to him "Can you tell me what's on the back of the $20 bill?" He said no. I responded "Well, since you don't seem to know that much about the bill, what does it matter who's on the front?"

I'm honestly surprised it took this long. I figure the $1 and $2 bills are next. Washington and Jefferson were slave owners as well. Screw the fact that they were Presidents and monumental figures in the founding of our country - they were just the same as everyone else and owned slaves. People might be offended that someone else's ancestors were owned by them. I'm putting my money (pun, get it!) on Malcolm X on the $1 and Rev. Jesse Jackson on the $2.

You're alright for a yankee ;)

But really, I agree.

What about my ancestor, Pocahontas? I kinda feel like they were done wrong at some point in time as well. o_O

Ya, but there's not enough Native Americans around to make up a significant portion of the votes, so appeasing that group isn't worth it to the PCers. Only when you start to get a significant population and can be manipulated into siding with the party that honors you will you be honored.

Nevermind that Hispanics outnumbered blacks by a sizable margin. Race relations only ever refer to treatment of blacks, never Hispanics, Asians, or any other race.

Actually I'd like to make a correction to this. People would be offended if Malcolm X and Jesse Jackson were put on the $1 and $2 bills, because of course it would be an indication of white supremacy: "Whites are worth more... so whites go on the higher denomination bills". To correct this clear injustice, Grant and Franklin would be moved to the $1 and $2 (still have to get rid of the slave owners) and then Malcolm X and Jesse Jackson would be put on the $50 and $100.

They already have the "Black Card" which includes unlimited spending for the super elite. Hard to be worth more than that.

B-b-b-but, we won't talk about that. Stop bringin' up old sh**.

I mean no racial or sexist connotations with this comment whatsoever. Purely from an aesthetics standpoint, the look of the new $20 with HT's face on it is kinda jarring to the eyes.....

They could've picked a better portrait of her.

Also, yikes, how do people read the NY Times?

I don't think there is a good portrait of her. She's not much to look at but I still think she was a courageous women.
