Offensively, the poor shooting and low assist numbers are worrisome. Obviously, making more wide open shots would improve the assist number. And defensively, we’ll we’re just not very good on that end of the floor. We have been in stretches, especially when we mix up our defenses. We need more of that, IMO.

This is not the resume of a second weekend team. Thankful it is only Dec 22.
We are on an uptick, but next 3 games leading into Virginia will tell me a lot about our ceiling.

Work to be done for sure, but it's still early and there will be opportunities to improve in all aspects.

No way for them to pull those numbers up to respectable full year averages with about 1/3 of the year gone.

I think it’s better to look at how they do on a game to game basis or if they can get a good trend going which started 2-3 games ago

UNCs metrics per kenpom are good offensively and lackluster defensively. But we rate out to the 19th best team right now in the country. We rate 9th offensively in the nation adjusted for tempo and 56th defensively.

I like stats, they can tell you a lot about a team. Obviously the win/loss ratio is the most important stat, but others can readily explain a team’s competence or lack thereof.

Archer, there are lies, then there's damn lies, then there's statistics. Those cumulative stats, while real, they do not present an accurate picture in regard to current team play. Yes, overall taking in the whole of the season, they do not paint a picture of good team play. What we all need to focus on is improvement. Taking the last 4-5 games is a better overall barometer in what kind of team we have to date, and whether continued improvement will take place. I think this team has made some improvements from the beginning of the season; don't you think?

I also expect continual improvement on the defensive side as well, as that's where we are really falling short. Good defense creates good offense and not the converse. As I have said several times over, this team has eerily mirrored last year's team in many respects but one...., they are becoming a much better team earlier than last years.

Not predicting a final 4 team mind you, just making an observation of what I have witnessed through 13 games thus far vs. last year.

Our recipe for success moving forward:
1) Employ multiple defenses that force opponents to adjust by utilizing our depth.
2) Inside-out offense that promotes ball movement through passing in order to get the best available shots.
3) Free throws are free. Get to the line and make them.
4) Hard, smart, together one game at a time.
GO HEELS!

The only thing I would add is a strong emphasis on rebounding as well.
