Heels can beat Wisconsin without Meeks

I am confident that the Heels can defeat Wisconsin even if Kennedy Meeks does not play. In recent weeks, the Heels have played strong and shown the ability to beat anyone in the country.

James is terrible! Sorry to be negative but I honestly don't know why he is the first big off the bench. Hicks is so much better.

Even if Meeks is healthy I would have Brice start on Kaminsky. He's more mobile. When he gets his 2nd a switch can be made. It'll be interesting to see how the heels play him.

We need Meeks if nothing more then he gives us 5 more fouls...IMO the key is to let kaminsky get as many as he can but contest every shot...we have to defend the 3 and the rim on dribble penetration and get them in our tempo...we can't let them out to a big lead... There half court game is A+

We need to play them the same way ND played Dook. Dont double the post and allow for the kickout cuz Wisconsin will absolutely burn you from deep if they get open looks. Ill take our guys from 2-7 over theyre 2-7 all day

If you did that, Brice would foul out before halftime...

I agree with others who have said let Kaminsky get his (like we should've let Okafor do), but do not collapse in and leave the kickout to the perimeter open. Let them get 2's instead of 3's and we have a chance.

Better start looking. James will play, even if Kennedy is cleared to go.

Kaminsky is baller for sure. But IMO, Dekker is the tougher match up for us in this game. He's a match up nightmare. There's no way Brice can check him and he's too big for JP and Justin. Hicks is probably best equipped to handle him but then who is off the floor?

Hopefully Meeks can play. I mean, there's no saving anybody for anything. It's now or never. But if he can't go, Joel James will have to put on his big boy pants. Not having Dez is huge in this game.

Now that is a fun thought.

The great problem for us on D facing Wisky is that Kaminsky can nail 3s and passes from the perimeter very well. Meeks really doesn't have the ability to guard him away from the lane. Making that a worse situation for us is that Nigel Hayes now also can nail a 3 here and there and certainly is very good at 15 feet.

We will miss Meeks regardless of Kaminsky. Luckily Wisky seems to have a short bench.

this is about as bad a matchup for us as you can imagine. In saying that, i agree with the poster that we can let Kaminsky get his, but as long as we limit the other guys from having career nights, we have a shot. Wiscy has destroyed some teams this year who have doubled Kaminsky in the post which has left open shooters on the wing and their PG who can get to the rim.

I think its a pretty safe assumption that Kennedy is not going to be able to play, and without Meeks this is a very steep uphill battle . . . IMO, we'd have to put up some awesome 3 Pt. % to win in his absence. With just 3 post players, we'd be relegated to playing a lot of zone, and Wisky has 4 players that shoot .370+ from behind the arc . .

It wouldn't shock me if we see more Jackson Simmons than we've been seeing. I sure hope not!

It's not like Kaminsky is Deandre Jordan. He shoots 76% from the line.

I may be the only person that thinks stopping Dekker is more important. When he gets going Wisc is impossible to stop. If it's just Frank then we can deal with his 20/10 and move on. Dekker giving them a 2nd option is the real dangerous part.

I'd really like to see JP step up to the challenge and focus 100% on stopping him.

JP is only giving up 2 inches to Dekker. It's not like that's a crazy amount.

I think he's by far the best matchup. Dekker doesn't really post. It's more slash and kick which is when you want a wing guarding him.

James cannot guard Kaminsky. Kaminsky can hit 3s. He passes from the perimeter like a 6-6 Wing. If James goes 20 feet from the basket, Kaminsky will burn us.

We are better off playing Hicks.

If, Meeks can't go, then who besides Jackson Simmons gives our post trio of Johnson, James and Hicks a breather . . ? Or is it you just don't want to see Simmons on the floor . . . ?

Hicks fouled out Saturday in 12 whole minutes.

This is EXACTLY how I see it, I think JP & Theo can handle Dekker with their quickness and length, both may be in that 6'6-7" range but both have good arm length. They can bother the heck out of him inside or out side the paint. We have to control the other 4 guys on the court, if we do that Kaminsky is not going to beat you by himself.

Protect the ball. Rebound. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

meeks contributes a lot of positives offensively and defensively. we need at least 20 minutes from him to beat wisc. beating wisc without meeks is in the miracle category.

A "miracle"..... oh come on enough with this adulation, adoration and veneration of Wiscy This is the same type of nonsense that was on this board a month or so ago in regards to UVA . Recall they were the SURE FIRE cant miss FF team

WE on the other hand were a bunch of slugs

Ah who's still playing ummmm??

Come on buck up Wiscy is good, yeah I know about Frank the Tank

this is NOT Gtown vs Villanova, where we have to play PERFECT to win.

Gawd some on this and other boards are just scaredy cat wimps

We CAN and WILL beat Wiscy

We have the athletes and the coach to do it

Grow some stones and get behind the Heels

Okay, let Frank get his and focus on stopping/slowing the other 4-6 guys that can score for them.

I would start Hicks at the center. If Brice starts out against Kamisky he will be in early foul trouble and give us nothing offensively. Hope Hicks can get 6 to 8 minutes, let Brice get into a strong mindset and then go with 1 post player and 4 perimeter guys and try to run more.
