CEDAR FALLS, IA - Several UNC player spoke after falling at Northern Iowa on Saturday. Here is what they had to say:
Justin Jackson on his 25-point game
“I just shot it with confidence. My teammates found me, pretty much the whole game. Most of the credit goes to them. I just shot it with confidence, saw a few go in. I was just blessed to see them go in.”
Jackson on defending UNI’s Wes Washpun
“I think it was kind of, just his teammates. We didn’t want to help at all off of all the shooters, so that just left him wide open, and it was just tough for our point guard to stay in front of him because he is so shifty. Obviously he’s a great player and had a great game, so respect to him.”
Brice Johnson on UNC’s second half struggles defensively
“We had a couple breakdowns and they got some open shots. They’re a really good shooting team, and they burned us for it by knocking down some big time shots in the second half.”
Kennedy Meeks on defensive adjustments made by UNI after he scored UNC’s first 8 points of game
“I think them doubling in the post a lot quicker before the ball even got to me was a little different for us, but you can’t make that excuse you gotta still play basketball. I didn’t have the best game, neither did the team, but we gotta put this one behind us, learn from our mistakes and get ready for Northwestern.”
