Yes, @heelz2345, you get your own thread. Since you watch every show and movie made, I figured I'd ask your opinions on a couple shows.

Bloodline (Netflix Original)
Season 1 and 2 are both on Netflix now. I hadn't watched season 1, so I binge watched both seasons when I was laid up recovering from my surgery. Thoughts on this show? I'll give my own unsolicited thoughts on it, in the meantime -- it's friggin great. I strongly recommend this show to everyone who has Netflix. One word of caution, you will get sucked in, but try to pace yourself. Season 3 won't come out until 2017.

Stranger Things (Netflix Original)
I'm halfway through the first and only season so far. I'm riveted and I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I would. Thoughts on this show if you've watched?

Finally, I'd like suggestions for another show for my girlfriend and I to watch after we finish Stranger Things. A couple caveats, minimal violence would be appreciated, but especially please please warn me ahead of time if there's any suicide involved in any of the shows. That stuff freaks her out. She had never seen The Patriot and she watched it with me last weekend. I totally forgot about the part where John blows his head off after seeing his wife and boy murdered.

I'm open to comedies as well as dramas and sci-fi. Pretty much anything

I'm very honored to have merited my own thread, and I'll do my best to help you out. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to start either of the shows you have mentioned, but they are both on my Netflix list. I just finished a show I was watching on HBO Go last night, and was planning to start Stranger Things this weekend because I had heard so much about it. I've also heard quite a bit about Bloodline, and was thinking about trying to watch that in the near future. I believe you watch Suits as well, and I'm in the process of catching up on that, I'm about a season or so behind. Really like it so far though.

As for suggestions, if we're talking Netflix originals, on the comedy side, I really like Bojack Horseman, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Master of None. Bojack can be a little depressing some times, but I think it's really solid. Has a good voice cast (Will Arnett is the lead, Aaron Paul, Alison Brie and Paul F. Tompkins are regulars). Kimmy Schmidt has a sort of 30 Rock vibe with the dialogue, so as a fan of that show, I liked this one a lot, but the characters are definitely different than that show. Master of None is basically Aziz Ansari's version of Louie, but I thought it was really well done.

On the drama side for the Netflix originals, I'm behind on House of Cards, but I've enjoyed that. I know you aren't really into the superhero stuff, but I think the Marvel shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage starts next month) are really good. Definitely darker than the movie side of Marvel (and can get a little violent, so this is a warning there). And you've mentioned the other Netflix dramas I'm interested in.

If you have access to HBO, check out Silicon Valley. That is definitely one of my favorite current comedies.

You mentioned sci-fi, I'm not sure if you've seen it, but check out Firefly if you haven't. Only 1 season, I believe you can see it on Netflix. It also has a movie spin-off Serenity. Plus, Jessica from Suits is on it.

There are a bunch of other shows, I'll try and think a bit and let you know if I think of some others.

On a Bloodline related note, I do want to watch it soon because I know Ben Mendlesohn is on it, and he's gonna be a bad guy in the new Star Wars movie coming out in December, so I'd like to watch it before that comes out.

Enjoyed Bloodline and Stranger Things. Finally getting to start the last season of Justified now, and may have to check out Suits at some point if that one comes recommended.

Justified is one of my favorite shows ever. Walton Goggins (Boyd) is on a new show on HBO with Danny McBride called Vice Principals; I've only watched the first 2 episodes, but I've thought that was really funny. He plays a very different character.

As for Suits, I do like it, it's like several shows on USA where they are fun procedurals, but it has some fun characters. Plus, they make a lot of movie and television references, so that is in my wheelhouse.

I did watch Suits up until season three. I enjoyed it, but once I missed a couple episodes of a new season, I just never went back. To me, they sorta got away from the whole idea of "Mike is a freakishly smart guy with a very useful photographic memory." Maybe they picked that back up in later seasons, but they almost never touched on that after season 1.

@JuleZ '02 HEEL I sincerely hope you are enjoying Justified. It's probably my favorite show ever.

I've started Bloodlines too and it is a bit slow at first but hang in there, it gets better!

House of Cards??? someone is behind on that????? Oh lordy, that is good, although this season not quite as good as the preceding ones but still good.

Orange is the New Black...... GREAT show! BUT season 3 not as good, this last season made up for it though!!!! OMG! best shocker ever!

I still have not found my "Breaking Bad" replacement yet.... I want that adrenaline rush back!

Hey so I meant to add some more shows the other day, and just realized I hadn't. Basically, the following are things that get a full recommendation from me. They might be things that you've seen, might be things you haven't seen, but it's gonna be a lot of shows that I like (there will be some redundancies that you probably already know, but still gonna mention them). Also, I'll try to list streaming options if I know them, and I'll asterisk the potentially violent/disturbing content ones since you asked about that as well.

You do realize you basically listed the entire Netflix library, don't you? lol

Just a little note: I don't recommend South Park Studios for South Park streaming. Last time I looked, they took a lot of the full episodes off because of their partnership with Hulu now. Hulu is hands down the better option for South Park.

I was gonna say, I thought that Hulu got them, but I couldn't remember for certain. I'll edit my original post to reflect that.

@heelz2345 First of all, woah. You may need TV intervention. Secondly...

  • Burn Notice-Netflix, PG violence
You like Burn Notice?? Excellent. That's one of my all-time faves because of how it's got awesome action but they keep it very, very light and entertaining. Sometimes I'll find myself having a bad day or whatever and the last thing I want to do is sit down and watch a serious drama that's gonna depress me even more, nor do I want to watch a full-out comedy. Burn Notice is always a perfect go-to in those situations.

Yeah Burn Notice is basically exactly like you describe it there. Not too heavy, it's like a lot of USA shows, once you get the feel for the characters, most episodes are pretty similar and just pretty fun. Bruce Campbell was my dude on there. Part of my excitement for season 2 of Fargo was because there was a semi-Burn Notice reunion with him and Jeffrey Donovan both being cast members

Woah woah, Sam Axe is my idol, back off haha. And damn............I may need to watch Fargo just for that.

I was really hoping Coby Bell and Bruce Campbell were gonna do a spinoff series like they hinted at at the end of the last episode. And then, since Justified is my favorite show, I imagined them employing Raylan's help in their adventures since
Raylan ends up in Miami at the end of Justified

Not obsessed. When it comes so naturally you don't have to worry about it you can't be obsessed. Clearly some of you are obsessed by it though. A group has been organized to bring me down. Just a bunch of haters.

I actually did work as a movie critic in the local paper for a while, mainly summers when I was back home from UNC. Good gig while it lasted, got to see a bunch of movies for free.

Anybody watched "Shameless"? It's an entertaining show but dayum that is one messed up family. It's like the Kramer.... I can't look away.
I haven't yet, it's on my Netflix list. I hear William H Macy and Emmy Rossum are both good on it.

Oh, Community is one of my favorites. It's on Hulu in it's entirety. If you do start it back, be aware, there was a ton of behinds the scenes drama between the network and the guy who runs the show so they replaced him season 4, and brought him back for season 5, so season 4, while it still has some moments that are funny, it's got a little bit of a different feel.

Agreed. I just caught up and finished thru season 5. This show is not what I expected at all; it has some silliness (mostly from Aaron Paul's character), but the characters are more developed and the story lines are a lot deeper than your typical adult animated show.

I just finished episode 4 in season 2 of Westworld. Pretty strong episode tbh. Anyone else watching this?

IMO that’s the best show on TV. The writing is so insane and deep that you have to watch it at least twice to really process all of it
