No. Just how bad is that team? Right now, I would guess it's the worst ACC team ever, but I donn't know if any other ACC team has ever started with a longer losing streak and/or looked as hopeless in those losses. Is the thread title a rhetorical question?
He is a protege of John Caliperi. It doesn't matter that he's an alum. Who trusts a long term product of the Caliperi coaching tree? Other crooks and total idiots.Stated earlier when they lost a couple of exhibition games, that they were going to have a long season. Fans are already calling for the coach to be dismissed, will surprise me if he last through the season.
I don't know if any ACC team has been worse out of the gate, but the 2018 Pitt team went 0-18 in conference play.No. Just how bad is that team? He was hired specifically for his recruiting prowess, and because he won a NCAA Championship as a Louisville player. They expected Louisville to get hammered by the NCAA for breaking rules while already on probation, suffer multiple bad seasons under new NCAA penalties, and then Kenny Payne was expected to use his recruiting ability to right the ship.Stated earlier when they lost a couple of exhibition games, that they were going to have a long season. Evidently the Louisville alumni did not get the memo.He was hired specifically for his recruiting prowess, and because he won a NCAA Championship as a Louisville player. They expected Louisville to get hammered by the NCAA for breaking rules while already on probation, suffer multiple bad seasons under new NCAA penalties, and then Kenny Payne was expected to use his recruiting ability to right the ship.
Well the NCAA gave them a slap on the wrist in November. So they won't have significant NCAA penalties moving forward besides minimal recruiting restrictions and yet another meaningless probation. So the program is actually in better shape than the AD expected. They thought Kenny would be leading a bad program for several years bc of NCAA penalties. Instead they get this one bad season that resulted from poor roster construction as a result of everyone expecting the NCAA hammer.
So why would they fire Kenny Payne in the middle of his first season?
Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. He was hired specifically for his recruiting prowess, and because he won a NCAA Championship as a Louisville player.
