Let’s say an acquaintance of yours came into some money through no effort of his own. He won it, inherited it, etc. Let’s say it was $10 million or more.

Do you feel like whenever y’all hang out, he should offer to pick up the tab?

or

Would it piss you off that every time y’all hang out he acts like Big Willy and insists on picking up the tab?

Well, when I go out with friends now, we each pay for our own stuff, so probably continue to do that. It would be nice if that friend picked up the tab from time to time, but I wouldn't expect them to do it all the time. It might be a little irritating if they did it all the time, but only after about 10-12 times.

I never get pissed off when there is free food and/or alcohol involved.

I don't like my friends to change for any reason.

Depends on the friend. I have a few friends were one of us routinely picks up the check and it sort of balances out. We don’t ask to split checks or get paid back.

But I have other friends who are cheap as shit.

I mean, if he won that kind of cash then it wouldn't bother me. It wouldn't bother me if he didn't of course but if I had that kind of money I would always pick it up so I would understand it.
