Some of you won't read all of this so I'm putting it in the very first sentence, this is a very arbitrary way of looking at things. As such, this is not the end all discussion, it's only a data point.
I've seen it brought up multiple times lately the "talent" level of this team. The nerd in me at one point kept an annual spreadsheet that had a simple way of looking at it. Using Rivals player rankings, below are the average player rankings for each UNC team going back to 2004/2005.
Requirements:
- Only includes players that averaged at least 5 minute per game. I didn't want end of bench guys to weigh things down.
- This 5 minute per game average was used REGARDLESS of the amount of games played.
- If a player was not ranked (rankings go up to 150), I gave them a ranking of 150.
Glad to answer any questions, but I'm not going to go thru the trouble of posting the entire spreadsheet data on here. Just the things I think most will find relevant. If anyone is curious for example, which players factored in for any given season, let me know the year and I'll post.
